<브레이크뉴스 원주= 김일웅기자>원주시는 2026년 1월 1일부터 첨단산업과 내에 ‘AI융합팀’을 신설하고, 인공지능(AI) 관련 정책과 산업을 전담하는 조직 운영에 들어갔다.
AI융합팀은 그동안 AI위원회와 추진단을 통해 논의·기획해 온 AI 관련 정책과 사업을 행정적으로 연계하고 체계적으로 지원하기 위해 마련된 조직이다. 주요 업무는 AI 전환과 관련한 국책사업 대응을 비롯해 교육·실증 기반 구축, 중장기 AI 사업 기획 등이다.
원주시는 의료데이터 기반과 의료기기 산업, 규제자유특구, 대학·병원 인프라 등 AI 융합과 관련한 다양한 지역 자원을 보유하고 있다. AI융합팀은 이러한 기반을 바탕으로 산업·공공·도시 분야에서의 AI 활용을 단계적으로 지원할 계획이다.
또한 AI 관련 정책 검토와 사업 추진 과정에서 필요한 행정적 지원을 수행하고, 관계 기관과의 협업 체계를 운영해 관련 정책과 사업이 체계적으로 관리될 수 있도록 할 예정이다.
원강수 원주시장은 “AI융합팀은 AI 관련 정책과 사업을 행정적으로 관리하고 지원하는 조직”이라며 “관련 법과 절차에 따라 AI 분야 전반에 대한 행정적 검토와 협업을 지속적으로 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.
