[브레이크뉴스=강동호 기자] 합천군이 청년정책 지원 대상 확대를 위해 합천군 청년 기본조례를 개정하고, 청년 연령 기준을 기존 ‘19세 이상 45세 이하’에서 ‘18세 이상 49세 이하’로 확대했다고 2일 밝혔다.
이번 개정은 변화하는 사회·경제 여건 속에서 청년층의 현실을 반영하고, 청년정책 혜택의 사각지대를 최소화하기 위한 취지이다.
특히 진학·취업 준비가 시작되는 18세 부터, 결혼과 출산의 시기가 늦어지는 사회적 변화에 맞춰 40대 후반까지 정책 지원 범위를 넓혀 더 많은 군민이 청년 정책의 혜택을 받을 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
연령 확대에 따라 합천군 청년인구는 5,700여명에서 7,400여명으로 증가할 것으로 전망되며, 청년 일자리·창업, 주거·생활안정, 문화·여가, 역량강화 등 군에서 추진 중인 각종 청년사업의 참여 폭이 넓어지고, 청년정책 참여 기반인 합천청년정책네트워크의 활동도 한층 강화될 것으로 보고 있다.
군 관계자는 “청년의 연령 범위를 현실에 맞게 확장함으로써, 정책 대상에서 소외되어 지원을 받지 못했던 군민들에게도 기회를 제공할 수 있게 됐다”며 “앞으로도 청년이 지역에서 꿈을 키우고 정착할 수 있도록 실효성 있는 청년정책을 지속적으로 발굴·추진하겠다”고 말했다.
