관내 재활용업체 8곳 긴급 점검 완료, 금천구 폐기물 반입 업체는 ‘중단’ 조치
자원회수시설 유입 우려에 “구조적 불가능” 선 그어… 무관용 원칙 행정처분 예고

충남 서산시가 수도권 생활폐기물의 지역 내 유입을 차단하기 위해 강력한 대응 체계를 가동했다. 최근 서울 금천구의 생활폐기물이 관내 업체로 반입된 사실이 알려지자 전수조사와 간담회를 실시하는 등 발 빠른 후속 조치에 나선 것이다.
서산시는 지난 6일 충남도와 합동으로 관내 한 폐기물재활용업체를 점검한 결과, 금천구에서 온 종량제봉투 내에 음식물 폐기물이 혼입된 사실을 적발했다.
해당 업체는 시의 강력한 조치에 따라 지난 8일부터 금천구로부터의 폐기물 반입을 전면 중단한 상태다.

서산시 관계자는 “자원회수시설에는 시가 공식적으로 위탁한 폐기물 수집·운반 차량만 진입할 수 있다”며 “외부 업체 차량의 진입은 구조적으로 불가능해 타 지역 쓰레기가 섞여 처리될 우려는 없다”고 설명했다.
서산시는 앞으로도 지역 환경권 보호를 위해 수도권 폐기물 유입 경로를 철저히 관리하고, 불법 행위 적발 시 강력한 사법 조치와 행정처분을 병행할 계획이다.
