원주시는 최신 지형 정보를 반영한 ‘2026년 고정밀 전자지도(1/1,000 수치지형도) 구축 사업’에 본격 착수한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 빠르게 변화하는 도시의 지형과 지물을 디지털 데이터로 기록해 행정의 효율성을 높이기 위해 추진된다. 총사업비 6억 원이 투입되며, 원주시와 국토지리정보원이 50대 50 비율로 각각 3억 원씩을 분담하는 매칭펀드 방식으로 진행된다.
올해 제작 대상지는 소초면(파크밸리GC), 부론면(남한강CC), 문막읍(더네이처·루첸관광단지)을 비롯해 지정면, 호저면 일원 등 총 24.25㎢(97도엽) 규모다. 시는 항공사진 촬영과 지상 측량을 통해 지표면의 위치, 건물, 도로 등 다양한 정보를 1/1,000 축척의 정밀한 디지털 지도로 변환해 오는 12월까지 제작을 완료할 계획이다.
고정밀 전자지도가 완성되면 도시계획 수립, 상하수도 및 가스 등 지하시설물 관리, 재난·안전 예방 등 행정 전반의 기초 자료로 폭넓게 활용된다. 특히 각종 개발 사업이나 인허가 시 정확한 공간 정보를 제공해 행정 신뢰도와 대민 서비스 만족도를 크게 높일 것으로 기대된다.
제작된 지도는 국토정보플랫폼을 통해 시민 누구나 무료로 열람하고 이용할 수 있다.
한편, 원주시는 지난 2010년부터 꾸준히 수치지형도 제작 사업을 추진해 왔으며, 현재까지 도시지역의 95% 이상을 고정밀 전자지도로 구축하는 성과를 거뒀다.
