【브레이크뉴스 경북】이성현 기자=대한적십자사 경북지사(회장 김재왕)는 소속 청소년적십자(RCY) 해외봉사단이 지난 1일부터 8일까지 인도네시아 자카르타에서 해외봉사활동을 펼치며 글로벌 인도주의 가치를 실천했다고 밝혔다.

이번 활동은 삼성의 후원으로 2012년부터 이어져 온 ‘청소년멘토링 해외봉사활동’의 일환으로 추진됐으며, 경북지역 RCY 단원과 지도자 등 총 50명이 참여했다. 봉사단은 자카르타 소재 SMP Negeri 103 Jakarta 학교를 방문해 학교 담장 페인팅 등 환경 개선 활동을 진행하고, 현지 학생들을 대상으로 응급처치 및 위생교육, K-pop과 전통놀이를 활용한 문화교류 프로그램을 운영했다.
특히 이번 봉사에서는 레드크로스 아너스기업인 운정국제교육재단의 기부금으로 제작된 ‘우정의 선물상자’ 50세트가 전달돼 의미를 더했다. 학용품 세트로 구성된 우정의 선물상자는 현지 학생들의 학습 환경 개선에 실질적인 도움을 주었으며, 운정국제교육재단은 2025년 아너스기업 가입 이후 올해도 4천만 원을 기탁하는 등 지역 청소년의 글로벌 성장과 교육 지원에 지속적으로 앞장서고 있다.
현장에 참여한 정재영 RCY 단원(경산여중)은 “우리가 준비한 학용품을 받고 환하게 웃는 인도네시아 친구들을 보며 큰 보람을 느꼈다”며 “국경을 넘어 마음을 나누는 소중한 경험이었다”고 소감을 전했다.
김재왕 대한적십자사 경북지사 회장은 “삼성과 운정국제교육재단의 지속적인 후원 덕분에 청소년들이 세계를 무대로 나눔을 실천할 수 있었다”며 “이번 경험이 단원들이 건강한 세계시민으로 성장하는 데 소중한 밑거름이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
한편, 대한적십자사는 2012년부터 베트남, 인도네시아, 라오스 등에서 해외봉사활동을 이어오며 청소년들에게 인도주의 정신과 글로벌 시민의식을 전파하고 있다.

The Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross (Chairman Kim Jae-wang) announced that its Red Cross Youth (RCY) Overseas Volunteer Group practiced global humanitarian values through overseas volunteer work in Jakarta, Indonesia, from March 1st to 8th.
This activity, sponsored by Samsung and part of the "Youth Mentoring Overseas Volunteer Work," which has been ongoing since 2012, involved 50 RCY members and leaders from the Gyeongbuk region. The volunteer group visited SMP Negeri 103 Jakarta School in Jakarta, where they conducted environmental improvement activities such as painting the school fence. They also provided first aid and hygiene education to local students, as well as a cultural exchange program featuring K-pop and traditional games.
This volunteer activity was especially meaningful as it included 50 sets of "Friendship Gift Boxes," made possible by a donation from the Unjeong International Education Foundation, a Red Cross Honors Enterprise. The Friendship Gift Box, consisting of school supplies, has made a tangible contribution to improving the learning environment of local students. The Unjeong International Education Foundation, which joined the Honors Corporation program in 2025, has donated 40 million won this year, demonstrating its continued leadership in supporting the global growth and education of local youth.
Jeong Jae-young, a member of the RCY volunteer program (Gyeongsan Girls' Middle School), who participated in the event, said, "Seeing the bright smiles of Indonesian friends upon receiving the school supplies we prepared was deeply rewarding. It was a valuable experience of sharing our hearts across borders."
Kim Jae-wang, Chairman of the Gyeongbuk Branch of the Korean Red Cross, said, "Thanks to the continued support of Samsung and the Unjeong International Education Foundation, the youth were able to practice sharing on a global stage. I hope this experience will serve as a valuable foundation for the volunteers to grow into healthy global citizens."
Meanwhile, the Korean Red Cross has been conducting overseas volunteer activities in Vietnam, Indonesia, and Laos since 2012, promoting humanitarianism and global citizenship among youth.
