2026년 6월 3일 치러지는 지방선거를 앞두고 정상신 대전교육감 예비후보가 10일 공식 출마를 선언하며 본격적인 선거전에 뛰어들었다.
정 예비후보는 이날 오후 2시 열린 출마 기자회견에서 “현재 대전교육은 심각한 신뢰 위기에 직면해 있다”고 진단하며, ‘책임교육’을 슬로건으로 내걸고 대전교육을 전국 최고의 교육 도시로 다시 세우겠다는 포부를 밝혔다.

정상신 예비후보는 대전교육 정상화를 위한 5대 정책 방향을 구체적으로 제시했다.
그가 제시한 5대 정책 방향은 인성교육 실현 방안으로 자율과 경쟁 중심 교육의 부작용을 극복하고 AI 시대 인간의 정체성을 세우는 교육 강화, 디지털 전환과 기후위기에 대비한 창의적 교육과정 다양화 및 체계적인 진로·진학 지원체계 구축, 지역사회와 연계한 안전·돌봄 시스템 구축을 통해 맞벌이 가구 등 교육 수요에 부응하는 학교 공간 창출, 심리·정서적 위험군 학생에 대한 학교별 전담 인력 확충 및 교사 소진 예방 프로그램 운영, 구별 교육청 신설과 빅데이터 기반 행정을 통한 ‘일 잘하는 교육청’ 실현 등이다.
