서성란 경기도의원, ‘2026 대한민국 유권자 대상’ 수상

경기도의회 건설교통위원회 서성란 의원(국민의힘·의왕2)이 지난 2월 12일 경기도의회 국민의힘 대표의원실에서 유권자시민행동과 한국여성유권자연맹이 공동 주최한 ‘2026 대한민국 유권자 대상’을 수상했다.

‘대한민국 유권자 대상’은 주민 삶의 질 향상과 지역 현안 해결에 기여한 공직자에게 수여되는 상으로, 유권자의 관점에서 의정활동 성과를 평가한다는 점에서 의미가 크다.

서성란 의원은 의왕을 지역구로 둔 도의원이자 목회자 출신 정치인으로, 건설교통위원회에서 하천·교통·도로 등 지역 기반시설 현안을 지속적으로 점검해 왔다. 동시에 교육·복지 분야까지 활동 범위를 넓히며 생활밀착형 의정활동을 이어온 점이 높이 평가됐다.

특히 의왕 지역 시내버스 증차와 프리미엄버스 도입을 통해 교통 서비스 개선을 추진했고, 안양천 하천 정비 예산 확보와 의왕역 일대 철도 지하화 필요성을 제기하는 등 지역 인프라 개선에도 목소리를 내왔다. 아울러 복지 분야에서는 호스피스 자원봉사자 확대 지원 기반 마련과 아동 실내외 놀이공간 정책 추진 등 돌봄 환경 개선을 위한 정책 활동을 펼쳤다. 지역 교육 현안 해결과 교육환경 개선을 위한 의정활동도 병행해 왔다는 평가다.

서성란 의원은 “유권자의 이름으로 주어지는 상인 만큼 더욱 큰 책임감을 느낀다”며 “앞으로도 주민 일상과 가장 가까운 현장에서 출발한 과제들을 끝까지 살피고, 교통·교육·복지 전반에서 체감 가능한 변화를 만들어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

이번 수상은 지역 현안을 중심에 둔 실천적 의정활동이 주민 신뢰로 이어졌다는 점을 확인한 사례로 평가된다.

Gyeonggi Provincial Council Member Seo Seong-ran (People Power Party, Uiwang 2) of the Construction and Transportation Committee received the '2026 Korea Voter Award' co-hosted by the Citizens' Action for Voters and the Korean Women Voters League at the People Power Party representative office in the Gyeonggi Provincial Council on February 12th.

The 'Korea Voter Award' is given to public officials who have contributed to improving the quality of life of residents and resolving local issues. It is significant in that it evaluates legislative performance from the perspective of voters.

Assembly Member Seo Seong-ran, a former pastor and politician representing Uiwang, has consistently reviewed local infrastructure issues, including rivers, transportation, and roads, on the Construction and Transportation Committee. She was also highly praised for expanding her scope of activities to include education and welfare, maintaining a legislative approach that is closely aligned with residents' lives. In particular, she has promoted improved transportation services in the Uiwang area by increasing the number of city buses and introducing premium buses. She has also advocated for improving local infrastructure, including securing funding for the Anyangcheon River restoration project and advocating for the undergrounding of the Uiwang Station area. Furthermore, in the welfare sector, she has implemented policies to improve the care environment, including establishing a foundation for expanding hospice volunteer support and promoting policies for indoor and outdoor play spaces for children. She is also recognized for her legislative activities to address local educational issues and improve the educational environment.

Councilmember Seo Seong-ran stated, "I feel a greater sense of responsibility as this award is given in the name of the voters. I will continue to see through issues that originate from the very heart of residents' daily lives and create tangible changes across transportation, education, and welfare."

This award is seen as a validation that practical legislative activities focused on local issues have led to the trust of residents.
