이번 사업은 군 복무 중 발생할 수 있는 각종 사고와 질병에 대비해 사회안전망을 강화하고 청년들이 국방의 의무에 전념할 수 있도록 지원하기 위한 것으로, 지난해에 이어 지속 추진된다.
보험 가입 대상은 2026년 3월 1일 기준 음성군에 주민등록을 두고 군 복무 중인 청년으로, 별도의 신청 절차 없이 자동 가입되며, 전역하거나 타 지역으로 전출할 경우는 자동 해지된다. 단, 직업군인·사회복무요원·산업기능요원은 제외다.
보장 항목은 기존 15종에서 2개 항목을 추가해 총 17종으로 확대됐다.
