서호영 대구 동구청장 예비후보가 8일 국립공원 팔공산을 너도나도 찾고 싶은 팔공산으로 만들겠다는 공약을 제시했다.

서 예비후보는 “국립공원 승격 후 3년이 다 되어가는 팔공산이 별로 달라진 것이 없다”며 “이곳에 경제와 보호라는 두 가지 아이콘을 넣어 관광경제와 보호 정책을 실시해 국립공원 규제 틀에 갇혀 사유권 행사에 애를 먹고 있는 주민들의 애로를 풀겠다”고 말했다.
이를 위해 그는 ‘팔공산 정책 TF팀’을 신설하고 수준 높은 팔공산 정책을 완성하겠다고 덧붙였다.
또한 그는 건축·고도·임야 등 불필요한 규제 완화를 추진하는 것은 물론, 팔공산 지역의 새로운 도시기본계획 수립 계획도 내놓았다. 이를 위해 팔공산 관광정책을 수립·시행하고, 이를 통해 500만 팔공산 관광시대를 열어가겠다는 복안이다.
500만 관광시대를 위한 구체적인 정책으로는 팔공산 구름다리 재추진, 능성동 예비군 훈련장 이전 등을 통해 루지, 모노레일, 레일바이크, 스카이레일, 서바이벌게임 등을 갖춘 팔공산 스포츠 엑티비티 타운 조성을 예로 들었다.
특히, 갓바위~동화사~파계사지구를 잇는 단풍 백리길을 조성하고, 팔공산의 수려한 자연 환경을 활용한 천년숲, 힐링쉼터 조성으로 ‘돈 되는 산림경제’ 실현하겠다고 약속했다.
