‘이야기가 있는 코딩’은 독서와 소프트웨어 교육을 결합한 융합형 프로그램으로, 어린이의 독서 흥미를 높이는 동시에 문제 해결력과 창의성을 키우기 위해 마련됐다.
올해는 전국 공공도서관 100곳이 운영 기관으로 선정돼 프로그램을 진행한다.
참여 학생들은 사서와 함께 선정 도서를 읽고 내용을 이해한 뒤, 이를 바탕으로 코딩 강사와 함께 실습과 미션 수행을 진행한다.
책 속 이야기를 디지털 창작물로 구현하는 과정에서 자연스럽게 사고력과 표현력을 확장하는 것이 특징이다.
증평군립도서관은 초등학교 4~6학년을 대상으로 오는 8월 중 프로그램을 운영할 계획이다.
운영 일정과 참여자 모집 등 세부 사항은 7월 이후 도서관 홈페이지를 통해 안내될 예정이다.
군 관계자는 “독서와 코딩을 접목한 이번 프로그램을 통해 어린이들이 책을 매개로 창의적 사고를 확장하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대한다”며 “앞으로도 미래 역량을 키울 수 있는 다양한 교육 프로그램을 지속 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

Creative Coding Program for Elementary Students to Operate in August
Jeungpyeong County Library in North Chungcheong Province has been selected as an operating institution for the ‘2026 Story-Based Coding’ project, hosted by the National Children and Youth Library.
‘Story-Based Coding’ is a convergence program that combines reading and software education. It was designed to enhance children’s interest in reading while simultaneously fostering problem-solving skills and creativity.
This year, 100 public libraries nationwide have been selected as operating institutions to conduct the program.
Participating students read selected books with librarians to understand the content, and then, based on this understanding, proceed with practical exercises and mission completion with coding instructors.
A key feature of the program is that it naturally expands thinking skills and expressive abilities through the process of realizing stories from the books into digital creations.
Jeungpyeong County Library plans to operate the program in August for elementary school students in grades 4 through 6.
