이번 사업은 고령화와 기후 변화로 인한 농업 인력 부족에 대응하고, 첨단 기술을 접목해 농가 경영비를 절감하고 고품질 농산물을 생산하는 것을 목표로 한다.
시는 국비 사업을 통해 스마트 농업 고도화를 추진한다.
스마트팜 ICT 융복합 확산(시설원예 현대화) 사업에 1억 1천 8백만 원을 투입해 온실 환경제어 시스템과 자동화 설비를 지원하고, 스마트팜 ICT 융복합(절감시설) 사업에는 5천 7백만 원을 투입해 에너지 비용 부담을 줄인다.
시 자체 예산을 활용한 맞춤형 지원도 강화된다.
시설원예 분야 스마트팜 확산 사업에 2억 1천만 원을 투입해 스마트 농업 기기 보급을 확대하고, 시설원예하우스 신축 지원 사업에는 11억 원을 투자한다.
또한, 충청북도와 협력하는 시설원예 스마트 생산기반 조성 사업에도 5천만 원을 지원해 광역 단위 스마트 농업 거점 구축에 나선다.
이번 지원으로 농업인들은 스마트폰이나 PC로 온실 환경을 실시간 확인하고 원격 제어할 수 있다.
시는 이를 통해 작물에 최적화된 생육 환경 제공, 생산성 향상, 노동력 절감 효과가 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.
