울릉군은 독도박물관을 중심으로 ‘2026년 독도아카데미’를 4월 1일부터 11월 6일까지 운영한다고 밝혔다. 특히 올해는 2박 3일 과정 기수를 주 2회로 확대해 교육 기회를 대폭 늘린다.
2008년 시작된 독도아카데미는 전국 공직자와 공공기관 종사자를 대상으로 독도 이론 교육과 현장 답사를 병행하는 프로그램으로, 지금까지 약 4만 명의 수료생을 배출하며 독도 영유권 인식 제고에 기여해왔다.
올해 아카데미는 2박 3일과 3박 4일 과정으로 이원화해 총 33기수로 운영된다. 2박 3일 과정은 울릉도와 독도의 역사·문화유적 중심 교육에 초점을 맞추고, 3박 4일 과정은 여기에 생태·지질 탐방을 더해 보다 심층적인 체험 기회를 제공한다.
교육의 질 향상을 위해 해설사 직무교육도 병행된다. 울릉도와 독도의 역사·문화유산 이론 교육과 함께 모의 해설 실습을 진행하고, 운영 기간 중에도 비정기 교육을 실시해 전문성을 강화할 계획이다.
이와 함께 독도박물관은 어린이·청소년 대상 도슨트 프로그램 ‘독도해설사’도 운영한다. 모집 기간은 4월 1일부터 15일까지이며, 초등학교 4~6학년과 중학생을 대상으로 한다.
교육은 4월 18일부터 5월 23일까지 매주 토요일 진행되며, 수료자는 5월 30일부터 11월까지 박물관 상설전시실에서 해설 활동을 수행하게 된다. 교육 과정은 독도 역사 이론, 전시 연계 탐방, 해설 시나리오 작성 및 발표 실습 등으로 구성되며, 봉사활동 시간은 ‘1365 자원봉사’와 연계해 인정된다.
한편 울릉군은 3월 31일 저동항 어업인복지회관에서 ‘저동항 어촌뉴딜 3.0사업 주민설명회’를 열고 주요 지역개발 사업도 공개했다.
저동항과 내수전 해변 일원에 약 295억 원이 투입되는 이번 사업은 바다마당, 해안 산책로, 해안공원 조성 및 주차장 확충 등을 포함해 관광과 어업이 결합된 복합 어촌경제 거점을 구축하는 것이 핵심이다.
또 도동~저동 간 관광지 연계순환도로 개설과 봉래길 도로 확장공사도 함께 추진해 교통 불편 해소와 관광 접근성 개선을 도모한다.
남한권 울릉군수는 “체계적인 독도 교육과 현장 체험을 통해 올바른 역사 인식을 확립하고, 울릉도의 문화·자연유산 가치를 함께 되새기는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

Ulleung County is set to launch a variety of projects that encompass Dokdo education and regional development. To enhance the quality of education, job training for docents will be conducted in parallel. The plan is to strengthen professionalism by providing theoretical education on the history and cultural heritage of Ulleungdo and Dokdo, conducting mock docent practice sessions, and offering irregular training even during the operation period.
In addition, the Dokdo Museum operates the "Dokdo Docent" program for children and youth. The recruitment period runs from April 1 to April 15, targeting elementary school students in grades 4 through 6 and middle school students.
Training will take place every Saturday from April 18 to May 23, and those who complete the course will perform docent activities in the museum's permanent exhibition halls from May 30 to November. The curriculum consists of Dokdo history theory, exhibition-linked field trips, and practice in writing and presenting docent scenarios. Volunteer hours will be recognized in conjunction with the "1365 Volunteer" program.
Meanwhile, on March 31, Ulleung-gun held a "Jeodong Port Fishing Village New Deal 3.0 Project Residents' Briefing" at the Jeodong Port Fishermen's Welfare Hall and unveiled major regional development projects.
With an investment of approximately 29.5 billion won in the area surrounding Jeodong Port and Naesujeon Beach, the core of this project is to establish a complex fishing village economic hub that combines tourism and fisheries. This includes the creation of a "Sea Plaza," coastal promenades, and a coastal park, as well as the expansion of parking facilities.
In addition, the county plans to simultaneously pursue the construction of a circular road connecting tourist attractions between Dodong and Jeodong, along with the expansion of Bongnae-gil, to alleviate traffic congestion and improve accessibility for tourists.
