대한민국의 현대사는 전례 없는 선택과 도전의 연속이었다. 제2차 세계대전 이후 최빈국에서 시작해 오늘날 세계 10대 경제 강국으로 도약한 힘은 명확한 체제의 선택에서 비롯되었다. 이승만 대통령이 닦아놓은 자유민주주의와 한미동맹의 토대 위에, 박정희 대통령이 일궈낸 강력한 경제개발 정책은 우리 국민 특유의 근면성과 창의력을 폭발시키는 기폭제가 되었다. 이제 우리는 이 성공의 유전자를 바탕으로, 글로벌 경제의 중심부에서 새로운 질서를 주도하는 ‘경제대국’으로서의 항해를 시작해야 한다.
오늘날 세계는 자국 우선주의와 공급망 재편이라는 거대한 파고 속에 놓여 있다. 과거에는 앞선 나라들을 뒤쫓는 것만으로도 충분했다면, 이제 대한민국은 세계 시장이라는 광활한 운동장에서 직접 규칙을 설계하는 ‘룰 세터(Rule Setter)’가 되어야 한다. 이를 위해 정치는 과거의 낡은 이념 대립과 정쟁에서 벗어나야 한다. 기업이 전 세계를 무대로 마음껏 뛸 수 있도록 규제의 족쇄를 풀고, 미래 산업의 핵심인 디지털과 AI 분야에서 글로벌 표준을 선점할 수 있는 입법적 토대를 마련하는 것이 이 시대 정치의 가장 시급한 과제다.
특히, 우리가 주목해야 할 점은 ‘자유’와 ‘혁신’의 가치다. 북한의 폐쇄적인 독재 체제가 처참한 빈곤으로 증명했듯, 인간의 창의성을 억압하는 시스템은 결코 지속될 수 없다. 반면 대한민국은 삼성의 반도체 신화부터 최근 빌보드를 점령한 K-콘텐츠에 이르기까지, 자유로운 시장 환경 속에서 민간의 역량이 어떻게 국가의 부(富)로 연결되는지를 몸소 보여주었다. 정치는 이러한 민간의 역동성을 훼손하는 것이 아니라, 오히려 글로벌 스탠더드에 맞는 노동 및 교육 개혁을 통해 그 잠재력을 극대화하는 서포터 역할을 수행해야 한다.
대한민국의 경제 영토는 더 이상 한반도에 머물러 있지 않다. 전 세계가 우리 만화와 영화를 소비하고 우리 기업의 반도체를 기다리는 지금, 정치가 수용해야 할 진정한 사명은 명확하다. 세계 시장 경제의 흐름에 민첩하게 대응하고, 한미동맹을 비롯한 국제적 연대를 더욱 공고히 하여 우리 국민이 세계의 무대에서 실력을 맘껏 발휘할 수 있는 통로를 넓히는 것이다.
결국 경제대국으로 가는 길은 정치가 시장의 자율성을 존중하고, 미래를 향한 변화의 흐름을 용기 있게 받아들일 때 열린다. 시대적 사명감을 가진 정치가 뒷받침된다면, 대한민국은 단순한 번영을 넘어 세계를 이끄는 진정한 리더 국가로 우뚝 설 것이다. 세계 시장은 이미 우리의 무대가 되었고, 이제 그 무대의 주인공으로서 당당히 나아갈 정치적 결단만이 남았다.

Now, based on this gene of success, we must embark on a voyage as an "economic powerhouse" leading a new order at the heart of the global economy.
Today, the world is situated amidst massive waves of nationalism and supply chain restructuring. While in the past it was sufficient to merely follow in the footsteps of advanced nations, the Republic of Korea must now become a "Rule Setter," directly designing the rules on the vast playing field of the global market. To achieve this, politics must break free from the outdated ideological conflicts and political strife of the past. The most urgent task for politics in this era is to remove regulatory shackles so that companies can operate freely on a global stage, and to establish a legislative foundation to preempt global standards in the digital and AI sectors, which are the core of future industries.
In particular, we must focus on the values of "freedom" and "innovation." As North Korea’s closed dictatorship has proven through its abysmal poverty, a system that suppresses human creativity can never be sustained. On the other hand, South Korea has demonstrated firsthand how private sector capabilities translate into national wealth within a free market environment, ranging from Samsung’s semiconductor miracle to the K-content that recently dominated the Billboard charts. Politics must not undermine this dynamism of the private sector; rather, it must play the role of a supporter that maximizes its potential through labor and education reforms aligned with global standards.
South Korea’s economic territory is no longer confined to the Korean Peninsula. Now that the entire world consumes our comics and movies and awaits the semiconductors of our companies, the true mission that politics must embrace is clear. It is to respond nimbly to the trends of the global market economy and further solidify international solidarity, including the ROK-U.S. alliance, thereby expanding the channels through which our people can fully demonstrate their capabilities on the world stage.
Ultimately, the path to becoming an economic powerhouse opens when politics respects the autonomy of the market and courageously embraces the flow of change toward the future. If supported by politics imbued with a sense of historical mission, the Republic of Korea will rise to become a true leader nation that guides the world, transcending mere prosperity. The global market has already become our stage; now, only the political resolve to confidently advance as the protagonist of that stage remains.
