선관위는 13일 오전 이들을 대구지방검찰청 포항지청에 고발했다고 밝혔다.
선관위에 따르면 A씨와 B씨는 지난 2월 선거구민 13명에게 1박스당 약 3만8천 원 상당의 천혜향을 제공한 혐의를 받고 있다.
선관위 관계자는 “기부행위가 제한되는 자로부터 금품 등을 제공받거나 이를 요구하는 경우에도 제공가액의 10배 이상 50배 이하에 해당하는 과태료(상한 3천만 원)가 부과될 수 있다”며 유권자들의 주의를 당부했다.
현행 공직선거법 제113조에 따르면 후보자(입후보예정자 포함)와 그 배우자는 해당 선거구 내 개인이나 기관·단체 등에 기부행위를 할 수 없으며, 이를 위반할 경우 같은 법 제257조에 따라 5년 이하의 징역 또는 1천만 원 이하의 벌금에 처해질 수 있다.
울릉군선관위는 선거 질서를 훼손하는 불법 기부행위에 대해 엄정 대응하겠다는 방침이다.

The Ulleung-gun Election Commission has filed a complaint with the prosecution against prospective Ulleung-gun council candidate Mr. A and his spouse, Ms. B, on charges of providing fruit to constituents.

Violation of this provision may result in imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 10 million won pursuant to Article 257 of the same Act.
The Ulleung-gun Election Commission has announced a policy to strictly crack down on illegal donation activities that undermine the order of the election.
