[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 제42회 하둥군민의 날 기념식이 15일 문화예술회관에서 군민과 향우 등 600여 명이 참석한 가운데 개최됐다.
이날 기념식에는 박완수 경남도 도지사와 하승철 군수, 하동군의회 강대선 의장 및 군의원, 김구연 도의원 등 주요 인사는 물론 관내 기관·단체장, 군민, 향우 등이 참석해 하동군의 시작을 축하하고, 하동다운 정체성과 애향의 가치를 나누는 뜻깊은 시간을 함께했다.
이날 행사에서는 ‘사람이 모이고, 머물고, 살고 싶은 활력도시 별천지 하동’이라는 군민의 날 슬로건이 지향하는 비전을 다시 한번 공유하는 시간이 마련됐다.
하승철 하동군수는 기념사에서 “하동은 지금 위기를 버티는 단계를 넘어 스스로 활력을 만들어가는 단계로 나아가 있다”라며, “정주 여건 개선을 넘어 산업과 일자리로 이어지는 컴팩트 매력도시 전략을 통해 사람이 모이고 머물며 살아가는 도시를 완성해 나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.
이어 “이러한 변화는 군민과 향우 여러분의 참여와 연대 속에서 만들어진 성과”라며 군민과 함께하는 군정 운영 의지를 강조했다.
군민상 시상식에서는 지역사회 발전을 위해 헌신과 봉사를 이어온 군민들에게 영예로운 상이 수여됐으며, 자랑스러운 군민상은 13명이 수상의 영예를 안았다.
특별상은 자연보호하동군협의회와 재부산향우회 김성호 명예회장이 수상했다. 자연보호 하동군 협의회는 깨끗한 하동 만들기 공로를 인정받았고, 김성호 회장은 지속적인 기부와 나눔 실천 공로가 높이 평가됐다.
특히 이번 표창패는 군민의 참여로 완성됐다는 점에서 더욱 의미를 더했다. 군민상 표창패 디자인 공모전을 통해 선정된 작품이 처음 제작·수여되면서, 군민이 직접 만들어낸 상징물이 수상의 가치를 한층 높였다.
