[브레이크뉴스=황민성 기자] 통영시는 한국 문학의 거목 박경리 선생 탄생 100주년을 맞아 오는 5월 4일 오후 1시 박경리기념관 세미나실에서 통영문인협회와 토지학회가 공동 주관하는 ‘2026 박경리 탄생 100주년 기념 통영학술대회’를 개최한다.
이번 학술대회는 ‘박경리 문학과 통영: 장소성, 서사 그리고 독자 경험의 지평’을 주제로, 박경리 문학 속에 담긴 통영의 의미를 장소성, 서사, 독자 경험이라는 다양한 관점에서 입체적으로 조명하고자 마련됐다.
박경리 선생의 문학 세계와 통영의 문화적·문학적 연관성을 깊이 있게 살펴보는 뜻깊은 자리가 될 것으로 기대된다.
행사는 1부 김일태 시인 겸 통영국제음악재단 대표가 ‘박경리 선생의 통영 사랑’을 주제로 특별강연을 펼친다.
이어 이승윤 인천대 교수가 ‘박경리 문학 연구의 현황과 미래’를 주제로 기조발제를 맡아 학술대회의 문을 연다.
2부에서는 박경리 문학과 통영을 둘러싼 본격적인 주제 발표와 토론이 이어진다.
박은정 한국외대 교수는 ‘박경리 소설 속 통영의 경제활동’, 이태희 인천대 교수는 ‘통영 배경 시편들의 심상지리’, 조윤아 가톨릭대 교수는 ‘작가의 원체험과 「토지」 속 통영의 형상화’, 김혜경 질문배움연구소 연구자는 ‘박경리 「토지」 거듭 읽기의 독자 경험’을 각각 발표한다.
이에 대해 최배은 숙명여대 교수, 강희근 경상대 교수 겸 시인, 장미영 한국공학대 교수, 임희숙 동아대 교수 겸 소설가가 토론자로 참여해 발표에 깊이를 더한다.
3부에서는 김승중 전주대 교수를 좌장으로 종합토론이 진행되며 발표자와 토론자들이 함께 박경리 문학과 통영의 의미를 폭넓게 논의할 예정이다.
이번 학술대회는 고향 통영에서 박경리 문학의 세계를 다시 읽고 그 현재적 의미를 되새기는 학술의 장이 될 전망이다. 특히 박경리 문학을 통해 통영의 역사와 정서, 삶의 풍경을 재조명함으로써 지역 문학 자산의 가치를 널리 알리는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.
통영시 관계자는 “박경리 선생 탄생 100주년을 맞아 마련한 이번 학술대회는 박경리 문학과 통영의 깊은 인연을 학문적으로 조명하는 뜻깊은 자리”라며 “문학을 사랑하는 많은 분들이 함께해 박경리 문학의 가치와 통영의 문학적 의미를 다시 생각해보는 시간이 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
한편, 학술대회에 이어 5월 5일 박경리 선생 묘소에서 18주기 추모제가 엄수된다. 특히 올해는 박경리 선생 탄생 100주년을 맞는 해인 만큼, 다양한 문화행사를 통해 선생의 문학적 업적과 의미를 시민들과 함께 기리고 되새길 예정이다.

Professor Choi Bae-eun of Sookmyung Women's University, Professor and Poet Kang Hee-geun of Gyeongsang National University, Professor Jang Mi-young of Korea University of Engineering, and Professor and Novelist Lim Hee-sook of Dong-A University will participate as discussants to add depth to the presentations.
In Part 3, a comprehensive discussion will be held chaired by Professor Kim Seung-joong of Jeonju University, where presenters and discussants will engage in a broad discussion regarding the significance of Park Kyung-ri's literature and Tongyeong.
This academic conference is expected to serve as a forum for re-examining the world of Park Kyung-ri's literature in her hometown of Tongyeong and reflecting on its contemporary significance.
