브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 국민의힘 의원들이 14일 포털 검색 알고리즘 조작 논란과 관련, 네이버를 항의 방문해 해명과 함께 대형 포털로서 책임있는 역할을 촉구했다.
앞서 공정위는 지난 6일 네이버가 쇼핑·동영상 분야 검색 알고리즘을 인위적으로 조정·변경을 통해 자사 서비스가 유리하게 노출되도록 한 행위에 대해 시정명령과 함께 과징금 총 267억원(쇼핑 265억원+동영상 2억원)을 부과했다.
이에 국민의힘 포털공정대책특별위원회는 이날 오전 경기 성남시 분당구 네이버 본사를 찾아 공정한 포털 환경 조성을 촉구했다.
이번 네이버 방문에는 국회 정무위원회 소속 국민의힘 성일종·강민국·유의동·윤두현·윤재옥·윤창현·이영 의원, 과학기술정보방송통신위원회 소속 김영식·정희용·허은아 의원 등이 참여했으며 한성숙 네이버 대표와 면담을 가졌다.
윤두현 의원은 면담 직후 기자들과 만난 자리에서 "오늘 저희가 끊임없이 요구한 것은 검색 알고리즘 공개 여부인데, 지금까지는 안 된다고 하다가 오늘은 입장에 진전이 있었다"면서 "뉴스에 대해 신뢰할 만한 전문가 그룹에 대해서 (공개)할 수 있고 그 부분에 끊임없이 신뢰성이 유지되도록 하겠다고 했다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "쇼핑과 관련해서는 워낙 경쟁이 심하고, 파트너사 영업상 기밀이 있어서 좀 더 정돈한 다음에 조치하겠다고 말했다"고 말했다.
윤재옥 의원은 "국감에서 필요한 자료를 제대로 제공할 수 있도록 협조를 요구했다"며 "최근 공정위로부터 과징금 처분을 받은 네이버의 해명 입장도 청취했다"고 설명했다.
윤 의원은 "(한성숙 대표도) 상당 부분 공감하고 앞으로 책임 있는 자리에서 좀 더 투명하게 입장을 밝힐 수 있도록 노력하겠다는 입장을 보였다"면서도 "국감 등 국회 출석 필요성에 대해서는 입장을 밝히지 않았다"고 했다.
