브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 박범계 법무부 장관 후보자가 2만여㎡(6400여평) 규모의 토지를 국회의원 당선 뒤 8년 동안 누락한 것으로 확인됐다.
4일 국민의힘 유상범 의원실이 입수한 공직자 재산신고 내역과 등기부 등본 등에 따르면 박범계 후보자는 만 7세였던 지난 1970년 6월 충북 영동군 심천면 약목리 산25-2번지 임야 4만2476㎡ 지분 2분의 1(약 6424평)을 취득했다.
박 후보자는 지난 2003년 참여정부 청와대 민정2비서관 재직 당시에는 해당 임야를 재산신고 내역에 포함했다.
하지만 2012년 19대 총선 대전 서구을에서 당선된 뒤 20대 국회까지 8년 동안은 신고 내역에 이 땅을 포함시키지 않았다.
이에 대해 유 의원실은 "후보자가 21대 국회의원 후보자 재산신고에서도 누락했을 것"이라고 추정했다.
공직자윤리법 22조에 따르면 고위 공직자가 재산신고를 누락하는 경우 공직자윤리위원회는 해임 또는 징계 의결을 요구할 수 있다. 또 선거 후보자가 선거관리위원회에 재산신고를 누락한 뒤 이를 선전문서을 통해 공표했을 땐 공직선거법상 허위사실공표죄 등이 성립된다.
다만 선거법 공소시효는 6개월이기 때문에 박 후보자에게는 해당되지 않는다.
이에 박 후보자 측은 이날 입장문을 통해 "2012년 첫 국회의원 당선시 보좌진이 재산신고를 하는 과정에서 누락됐으나, 후보자는 이번 장관 후보자 인사검증을 위한 재산관계 확인 과정에서 그동안 재산등록이 누락됐다는 사실을 인식하게 됐다"고 해명했다.
이어 "2003년 청와대 민정2비서관 임용 당시 후보자가 직접 재산신고를 할 때는 재산 목록에 포함시켰을 뿐만 아니라, 현재 공시지가 기준 총 2091만원으로 고의적으로 그 신고를 누락할 이유가 전혀 없다"고 설명했다.
그러면서 "해당 임야는 고조부부터 부모님까지 조상님들 산소가 있는 선산이자 박씨 문중 산소가 여럿 있으며, 7세 때부터 2분의 1 지분이 취득돼 있는 상태라 평소에 처분할 수 있는 재산이라고 인식하지 못했던 탓에 빚어진 일이지만, 경위 여하를 불문하고 본인의 불찰이라 여기고 있다"고 덧붙였다.

According to Article 22 of the Public Officials Ethics Act, if a high-ranking public official omits a property report, the Public Officials Ethics Committee may request dismissal or disciplinary resolution. In addition, when an election candidate omits a property report to the Election Commission and then announces it through an affidavit, a crime of public official election law constitutes a crime of promulgating false facts.
However, since the statute of limitations on the election law is six months, it does not apply to candidate Park.
Accordingly, candidate Park said in a statement on the day that "when the first National Assembly member was elected in 2012, the assistants were omitted in the process of reporting property, but the candidate recognized that the property registration was omitted during the process of verifying the property relations for personnel verification of this minister candidate. He explained that "when a candidate made a personal property report at the time of appointment as Secretary for Civil Affairs of the Blue House in 2003, not only was it included in the property list, but there is no reason to deliberately omit the report with the current publicly announced land price of 2,091 million won."
