원코리아국제포럼 통일경제세션이 11일 개최됐다. 원코리아국제포럼측은 보도자료를 통해 “신진 교수의 사회로 시작된 포럼에서 천규승 미래경제교육네트워크 이사장은 '한반도 통일을 실현하기 위해서는 북한주민에게 자유 증진을 위한 활동과 문화교류 증진도 중요하지만 통일에 관해 다양하게 갈라진 국내 사회에서 실효적인 공감대 조성과 통일 후 세계경제선도할 돈의 흐림 잡기 위해 금융산업 환경 개선해야 한다'고 말해 주목을 끌었다”고 전하면서 “김일성사회주의청년동맹회 다렌지 회장을 지낸 이현승 글로벌피스재단 북한연구원은 ' 정은은 개방과 남북경제협력에 대한 관심을 갖고 있으나 외부 정보 유입과 북한주민에게 자유 증진을 불허하고 있는 상황에서 남북경협은 어렵다. 현재 남한은 북한에게 주적이고 경협 파트너가 될 수 없다. 경협 이전에 북한 정권과 시스템 본질에 대해 더 잘 알아야 한다' 말하면서 희망적인 통일준비에 대해 우려를 나타냈다”고 알렸다.

제 2세션에서 활동가들은 관광산업 증진의 전략과 효과를 집중적으로 조명했다. 고재곤 여주대 교수는 평창동계올림픽과 4.15 판문점 회담 이후 개선되기 시작한 DMZ를 공존공간으로 조성하는 것에 대하여 IOC의 도움과 국제사회와 함께 기금을 조성하는 것을 제안했다. 그는 “2024년 동계청소년올림픽 남북 공동 및 분산개최 명분을 세우고 DMZ내에 스포츠 컴플렉스를 개발한다면 북한도 관광산업 등 경제적 이득이 있어 다양한 남북 선수들이 함께 훈련하고 연구하자는 안을 수용할 것이다”라고 말했다.

수리부 굽타(Mr. Sourabh Gupta) 美 중미문제연구소 선임연구원은 “어떠한 실효적인 제안도 결국 북한의 핵개발에 대한 문제가 선결되지 않는 한 법적인 문제 해결이 불가능할 것”이라고 말하면서도 “변화의 시작은 힘들지만 한 번 일어나면 급속도로 전개된다”면서 통일을 위한 사전 프로젝트 준비의 중요성을 강조했다.
