브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 조국 전 법무부 장관이 최근 아내인 정경심 동양대 교수가 항소심에서 징역 4년을 선고받은 가운데 13일 자신의 재판에 출석했다.
'자녀 입시비리' 혐의로 기소된 조국 전 장관은 이날 오전 서울중앙지방법원에서 열리는 15차 공판 출석 전 기자들과 만나 "정 교수의 2심 판결의 충격이 크다"고 밝혔다.
조 전 장관은 이어 "권력형 비리, 조국펀드 등 터무니없는 혐의는 벗었지만 인턴증명서가 유죄로 나왔다"며 "많이 고통스럽지만 대법원에서 사실 판단, 법리적용에 대해 다투겠다. 오늘 재판에서도 성실히 소명하겠다"고 했다.
그는 이어 '혐의에 대해 여전히 부인하나'는 기자의 질문에 답을 하지 않고 청사로 들어갔다.
한편 조국 전 장관은 아내 정경심 교수와 함께 자녀 입시를 위한 허위 표창장 및 확인서 등을 제작해 '업무방해' 등의 혐의를 받고 있다. 이들은 공모해 2009년 5월 1~15일 딸 조민씨가 서울대 공익인권법센터에서 인턴으로 활동한 사실이 없음에도 인턴십 확인서를 허위로 제작해 서울대 의학전문대학원 지원 때 제출한 혐의 등을 받고 있다.
