브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 이재명 더불어민주당 대선후보는 22일 '대장동 개발사업 실무자'로 알려진 김문기 성남도시개발공사 개발1처장이 극단적 선택을 한데 대해 "위로 말씀 외엔 특별히 드릴 말씀이 없다. 상황도 잘 모르고 안타깝다"고 밝혔다.
이재명 후보는 이날 오후 SBS '주영진의 뉴스브리핑'과의 인터뷰에서 "내가 한때 지휘하던 부하 직원 중 한명이고 어떻든 수사과정에서 그게 연원이 돼 극단적 선택을 한 거 같은데 정말 안타깝다"라고 말했다.
그는 김문기 1처장과의 관계에 대해 "성남시장 재직 때는 몰랐던 하위 직원이다. 그때 아마 팀장이었을 것"이라며 "이 분을 처음 알게 된 것은 경기도지사가 된 후에 (공공)개발이익 5500억원을 확보했다는 게 거짓말이라고 기소돼 그 재판과정에서 나는 지침만 줘서 세부내용을 전혀 모르니까 이를 파악할 때 주로 알려줬던 사람이 이분"이라고 설명했다.
이어 그는 "재판받을 때 이 사람의 존재를 알게 됐고 전화도 꽤 많이 주고받았다. 가장 업무 파악을 잘하고 있던 사람 같았다"며 "내가 알기로는 상당히 성실하고 업무도 잘하는 직원이었다"고 평가했다.
이 후보는 또한 "어찌됐든 내가 관할하던, 한 때 부하직원이었고 내가 하던 업무에 관여된 분이니까 전혀 책임이 없다할 수는 없을 것이다. 참 가슴 아프다"고 원론적인 답변을 내놨다.
이재명 후보는 '대장동 개발 의혹'에 대해선 "극단적으로는 내가 박근혜 정권하고 서로 소송까지 하고 심지어 광화문에서 농성하면서 정면충돌했다"며 "실제로 작은 흠이라도 있었으면 지금 이 자리에 올 수 없었고 살아남을 수 없었을 것"이라고 결백을 호소했다.
그러면서 거듭 "나는 특검을 했으면 좋겠다"고 강조했다. 그는 "날 의심해서 수사가 시작됐고 지금까지도 드러난 게 없다. 있는 게 없으니까"라며 "수사는 다 하고 의심은 받는 상황을 깔끔히 정리하고 싶은 게 내 심정"이라고 했다.
그는 다만 "특검을 나에 대해서만 하자는 것은 말이 안 된다. 윤석열 후보는 처음에 부정대출이 발생했을 때 조사했으면서 빼놨다는 의심이 있지 않느냐"면서 윤 후보도 포함돼야 한다는 기존 입장을 견지했다.
한편 대장동 개발사업의 실무자인 김문기 1처장은 21일 오후 8시30분경 숨진 채 발견됐다. 그는 지난 10월 6일을 시작으로 이달 9일까지 참고인 신분으로 검찰 조사를 받아왔다. 성남도시개발공사는 최근 그에게 중징계 통보와 함께 형사 고발도 검토하겠다는 의견을 전달했다. 대장동 의혹 핵심인물인 정민용 변호사에게 지난 9월 비공개 자료를 열람시켜 줬다는 게 징계 사유다. 하지만 이러한 검찰 수사와 공사의 징계가 김 처장의 사망과 연관성이 있는지 여부는 아직 확인되지 않고 있다.
