국립금오공과대학교(총장 곽호상) 정현재(25, 지도교수 주백석) 학생이 ‘2021 대한민국 인재상’으로 선정되었다.

교육부와 한국장학재단이 주관한 대한민국 인재상은 창의와 열정으로 새로운 가치를 창출하고 공동체 발전에 기여하는 인재를 발굴하여, 미래 국가의 주축으로 성장하도록 지원하기 위해 시행하는 것으로 고등학생 부문 50명, 대학생·청년일반 부문 50명씩 총 100명이 선정되며 부총리 겸 교육부장관상이 수여된다.
올해 금오공대에서는 기계시스템공학과 4학년 정현재 학생이 수상의 영예를 안게 되면서 2012년 이후 총 10명의 수상자를 배출하는 쾌거를 거두게 되었다.
정현재 학생은 “도전과 실패, 배움의 과정을 함께 한 학과 및 연구실 선후배, 그리고 지도교수님께 감사의 인사를 전한다”며, “앞으로 인공지능과 로봇 두 분야의 학문을 더 깊이 있게 연구하여 사회에 기여할 수 있는 로봇 공학자가 되고 싶다”고 소감을 말했다.

A student at Kumoh National University of Technology (President Ho-Sang Kwak) and Hyun-Jae Jeong (25, advisor Baek-Seok Joo) was selected as the ‘2021 Korea Talent Award’.
The Korea Talent Award, organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Scholarship Foundation, is to discover talented people who create new values with creativity and passion and contribute to community development, and to support them to grow as a pillar of the nation in the future. A total of 100 people will be selected, 50 each from the youth general category, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Award will be awarded.
This year, Geumoh University of Technology has achieved a feat of producing a total of 10 winners since 2012 as Jeong Hyun-jae, a fourth-year student in the Department of Mechanical and Systems Engineering, received the award.
Student Hyunjae Jeong said, “I would like to express my gratitude to my seniors and juniors in the department and lab, as well as my advisors who shared the process of learning through challenges and failures. I want to become a robot engineer that can do it,” he said.
