김천대학교가 대구·경북지역 4년제 대학 졸업생 평균 취업률보다 14.0%나 높은 69.7%로 포항공대에 이어 2번째로 높은 취업률을 달성했다.
2021년도 취업률 공시자료에 따르면 대구·경북지역 21개의 4년제 대학 졸업생 평균 취업률이 지난 해 보다 2.2% 낮아진 평균 55.7%로 나타났다.

이 가운데 김천대학교는 평균 취업률 69.7%를 기록하며 대구·경북지역 4년제 대학 중 2번째로 높은 취업률을 나타냈으며 최근 3년간 평균 70.9%의 우수한 취업률을 달성한 것으로 나타났다.
김천대는 이처럼 높은 취업률에 대해 재학생 및 졸업생들의 취업을 위해 다방면의 노력을 기울인 결과라고 밝혔다.
이를 위해 김천대는 취업·창업지도 전담교수제도, 졸업생들을 위한 취업현황 관리 교수제를 운영하고 있으며, 취업·창업지원센터에서는 학생·학과 맞춤형 취업 준비를 지원하고 있다.
또한 매년 취업캠프와 취업관련 경진대회, 졸업선배 초청특강, 전공별 취업특강, 기업 직무분석 및 역량개발, 진로설계와 직업탐색프로그램, 1:1 취업 심층 컨설팅 등을 운영하고 있으며, 취업환경 변화에 발맞춰 AI·VR 모의면접 등 다채로운 취업 역량 강화 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
