시인 송현 시인님-선생(1947년-2022년)이 지난 4일 영면했다. 2월 8일, 경기도 벽제 장제장에서 화장하는 것을 끝으로 이 세상에 더 이상 머물지 않는다.
필자는 송현 시인님을 지난 1978년에 만났다. 당시 송현 시인님은 공병우 한글 타자기 대표로 있었다. 이때, 필자는 송현 시인님에게서 공병우 한글타자기를 할부로 샀다. 지난 44년, 좋은 형님 자리를 지켜주셨다.
시인님은 생애 내내 시인으로, 소설가로, 사회운동가로 활약하셨다. 송현 시인님은 책이 많이 팔리던 시절, 베스트셀러 작가이기도 했다. 송현 시인님은 한때 필자가 발행인으로 있는 브레이크뉴스의 주필을 맡아 활동해 주셨다.
필자는 송현 시인님과 44년이란 긴, 아주 오랜 기간, 교유를 나눴다. 지난 2020년 7월1일에 쓴 “얻어먹기”라는 제목의 시 가운데 필자의 이름을 언급했다. 시로 남긴, 가까움의 징표였다. 아래는 이 시의 전문이다.

내가

대표이사를 할 때
나를 인터뷰하러 온 기자였다.
그 동안
차도 그가 사고
밥도 그가 사고
술도 그가 샀다.
그러고 보니
나는
한 번도
차 산 적이 없고
밥 산 적이 없고
술 산 적이 없이
얻어먹기만 했다.
무슨 말끝에
그가
서울 근교에
상설 미술관을 개관하려고
준비 중이라 했다.
그 말이
끝나자마자
내 연구실에 걸려 있는
우리나라 최고 누드작가의
100호짜리 작품을
기증하겠다고 약속했다.
그동안
내가 얻어먹은 차 값
밥값과 술값에 못 미치지만
그래도
내 딴에는
죽기 전에
성의 표시는 해야겠다고
그런 약속을 선뜻 한 것이다.
거기다가
한 술 더 떠서
농담 반
진담 반으로
내가
지금 쓰고 있는
장편소설 "교사혁명"이
대박 나면
그때부터는
내가
차도 사고
내가
밥도 사고
내가
술도 사겠다고 큰소리쳤다.
글쎄
그럴 일은
아무래도
쉽지 않을 것 같다.
사실
우리끼리 하는 말로

뻥이 좀 심하고
거기다가

비교적 가까이에서 지켜본, 송현 시인님은 “늘 분노하며 사신 분”이라고 표현하고 싶다. 그 분노(憤怒)의 주체가 무언지는 잘 모른다. ‘정의의 편’이라고 개괄(槪括)하면 어떨지? 하여튼 그 분의 삶은 분노, 분노가 언제나 이글거렸다. 그분의 시에도, 그 분의 글에도 그게 나타난다.
송현 시인님은 재세 시 공병우(한글 타자기 발명가), 함석헌(씨알의 소리 발행인) 한창기(뿌리깊은나무 발행인) 씨 등과 교분이 깊었다.
공병우 박사의 일대기 “나는 내식대로 살았다”도 집필했다. 공병우 박사에 대해서는 브레이크뉴스 2015년 3월7일자 “한글기계화 선구 공병우 정신-10가지 업적“이란 제목의 글에서 아래와 같이 추모했다.
“공병우 박사는 한국판 에디슨이다. 공병우 박사의 발명은 한두 가지가 아니다. 내게 공병우 타자기 회사를 다 맡기면서 공병우 박사의 발명품 족보를 내게 넘겨 주었다. 나는 그것을 보는 순간 내 눈을 의심하지 않을 수 없었다. 여러 분야에 걸쳐 수많은 발명 특허 건수가 적혀 있었기 때문이다. 그리고 공 박사한테서 발명가를 천대하는 나라는 망한다는 이승만 박사 이야기를 나는 골백번도 더 들었다. 실용적인 한글 타자기를 비롯하여 한글과 영문을 함께 찍을 수 있는 한영 타자기, 한글과 영문 대소문자를 같이 찍을 수 있는 한영 3단 타자기, 공병우 텔레타이프, 공병우 볼타자기, 공병우 사진식자기, 중국 주음부호 타자기, 맹인 점자 타자기, 한손용 한글 워드프로세서 등에서 콘텍트 렌즈에 이르기까지 공 박사의 발명 특허 목록은 끝이 없을 정도로 많고 다양하다. 1999년 특허청에서 우리나라 위대한 발명가 7인 중에 공병우 박사를 선정하기도 하였다.”
박정희 정권에 대항했던 함석헌 선생에 대해서는 브레이크뉴스 지난 2019년 2월8일자 “1년에 4일 '4분 공경마음으로 단식' 하는 까닭”이라는 제목의 글에서 “내가 함 석헌 선생님을 처음 만난 것은 부산에서 고등학교 졸업을 앞둔 어느 날, 표지가 떨어져 나가고 없는 낡은 잡지를 통해서이다. 제호도 알 수 없는 잡지의 화보로 실려 있는 선생님의 모습을 처음 보는 순간 나는 화인(火印)을 맞은 것 같은 강렬하고 신비한 느낌을 받았다. 그날 이후 나는 부산 보수동 헌책방을 이 잡듯이 뒤져 선생님이 쓴 글들을 찾아 꼼꼼히 읽기 시작했다.”면서 “그 중에서 선생님의 자서전 ‘죽을 때까지 이 걸음으로’를 밤을 꼬박 새워 단숨에 다 읽었다. 선생님의 불후의 명저 ‘뜻으로 본 한국 역사’도 한 줄 한 줄 숨죽이고 읽었다. 사료(史料)를 연대기적으로 나열한 죽은 역사와 역사의 의미와 섭리를 파헤쳐서 참 의미를 찾아내는 참 역사의 차이를 알았고 역사의식이 무엇인지, 왜 인간에게 역사가 중요하고 올바른 역사의식을 가지는 것이 얼마나 중요한지도 알았다. 나는 독서를 통한 지적 전율을 그 때 처음 경험하였다”라고 회고했다.
지난 2016년 10월2일자 브레이크뉴스에 게재한 “건강한 글쓰기 뿌리깊은 나무 한창기 사장식 대원칙” 제하의 글에서는 한창기 ‘뿌리깊은 나무(월간지)’ 발행인을 아래와 같이 추모했다.
“불행하게도 그 동안 이 땅에서 어느 누구도 한창기식 건강한 글쓰기 대원칙에 주목하는 이가 없었습니다. 그런데 저는 그 동안 70권은 책을 쓸 정도로 많은 글을 썼습니다. 그런데 한창기식 글쓰기 대원칙을 알고 난 뒤로는 낙엽이 떨어진다류의 글을 한편도 쓴 적이 없고, 반드시 "했다"형의 글을 써 오고 있습니다. 그래서 저는 여러 사람들이 열거하는 한 창기 선생의 여러 업적을 한데 합친 것보다 한 창기식 건강한 글쓰기 대원칙이 더 위대하다고 더 가치 있다고 생각합니다! 그래서 앞으로 초등학교에서 대학교의 국어 교과서에 이 원칙을 실어서 지금까지 잘못된 글쓰기 교육을 바로 잡아야 할 것입니다.“

평생 글을 써온 송현 시인님은 코로나19에 대해서도 비판적 시각을 지녔었다.
생애 마지막으로 지은 시에는 시인의 눈물이 배어 있다. 고 송현 시인님은 지난 2월4일 페이스북에 “우리 딸을 울린 내 마스크”라는 제목의 신작 시(詩)를 올렸다. 이 시는 고 송현 시인이 생애 마지막으로 쓴 시가 됐다. 아래는 이 시의 전문이다.
우리 딸을 울린 내 마스크

올곧게 자란
멋진 우리 딸이
세배하러 왔다가
내가 쓰고 있는
검은 마스크를 보고는
눈물이 그렁그렁 했다.
여러 날 쓴
궁한 티가 난 것 같다.
사실
남들은
이를 모를 줄 알았다.
나는
태연하게 한마디 했다.
“새 마스크도 몇 개 있다.”
이 말만 하고
말았어야 했는데
입이 가벼워
나는
참지 못하고
차마 해서는 안될 소리를 하고 말았다.
“새것이나 다름없는 것도 혹시 하고 두어 개 주워놓았다.”
이 말이 끝나자
딸이
대성통곡을 하였다.
사실
사기방역인 줄 뻔히 알면서
바보처럼
흰 신을 신을
또라이가 아니다!
마스크 안 썼다고
가는 곳 마다 푸대접을 받고
더러는 문전 박대를 받으면서도
여태까지 흰 신 신지 않고 버티고 있다.
안 할 말로
나는 사기방역으로 죽을 군번이 아니다!
내 조국을 위해서
목숨을 바칠 것이라고
미친놈처럼 수없이 떠벌리고 살았다.
좋게 말해서
반드시
밥값 하고 죽는다는 소리다.
통곡하던 딸이
울음을 멈추고
한마디 했다.
“아버지를 제가 잘 못 챙겨 드려서 죽을죄를 지었습니다.”
그 소리에
나도
참았던 눈물이 쏟아졌고
마침내 울먹이며 말했다.
“아니다! 씰데 없는 소리하지 마라! 내 걱정 마라. 자랑스런 너희들 걱정 안 시키려고 내 딴에는 별 것까지 신경 쓰면서 밥 안 굶고 건강하게 잘 산다. 이 지상이 내게는 천국이다. 오늘 죽어도 아무 여한이 없다.”
모처럼
부녀가 껴안고 우는 바람에
갑자기
눈물바다가 되고
울음바다가 되었다.
딸이 가고 난 뒤
택배로 마스크 박스가 도착하였다.
나는
딸에게 문자를 보냈다.
“미안하다. 내가 가지고 있던 마스크는 다 버리고 네가 보내준 새 마스크 쓰마. 더러운 마스크로 남 앞에 궁한 티 내지 않을 테니 애비 걱정은 마라.”
내 눈에서
닭똥 같은 눈물이 떨어졌다.
내 입에서
욕인지 탄식인지 튀어 나왔다.

이 시, 생애 마지막에 쓴 시에서도 ‘분노(憤怒)’가 표출된다. 언제나 정의에 목마르듯, 분노하듯, 살았다. 마지막 시에 나온 눈물은 딸과의 사이에 흘린 눈물이지만. 송현 시인이 흘린 눈물은 인간 세상에 대한, 모든 사람에 대한 눈물이었음직 하다.
고 송현 시인님은 오쇼 라즈니쉬를 존경했고, 평생 라즈니쉬를 연구했었다. 송현 시인님, 그분은 왜 평생 분노를 지니고 살았을까? 줄기찬 분노만이 세상을 바꿀 수 있다고 생각하는 데서 기인한 듯하다. 저 세상으로 따나는 마당에, 라즈니쉬가 남긴 “사랑은 무언가를 줄 수 있을 때 행복합니다”라는 말을 선물해드리고 싶다. 고 송현 시인님, 세상을 사랑했기에 분노를 안고 살았을 테니까.
이 세상을 홀연 떠나신 송현 시인님이시여, 마지막 남기신 시에서 “이 지상이 내게는 천국이다. 오늘 죽어도 아무 여한이 없다”라는 말에 동의합니다. 75년, 한 세상을 아주 잘 사시다가 영면하셨습니다. 필자의 이름을 언급한 시에서 “장편소설 ‘교사혁명’이 대박 나면/그때부터는/내가/차도 사고/내가/밥도 사고/내가/술도 사겠다고 큰소리쳤다.“고 하셨는데, 어찌하여 서둘러 가셨나이까? 저 하늘에서라도 꼭 그 소설이 대박이 나서 가난한 시인의 굴레를 훌훌 털어버리기 바랍니다. 시인님, 저 세상으로 가서는 아주 잘 사세요~ moonilsuk@naver.com

Poet Songhyeon, who passed away leaving behind the words, “This earth is heaven for me!”

Poet Song-hyeon Poet-sensei (1947-2022) passed away on the 4th. On February 8th, after cremation at Byeokje Jangjang, Gyeonggi-do, I will no longer stay in this world.
I met Poet Hyun Song in 1978. At that time, poet Song Hyeon was the representative of Gong Byeong-woo of Hangeul Typewriter. At this time, I bought the Gong Byeong-woo Hangeul typewriter from poet Song-hyeon in installments. For the past 44 years, he has kept the place of a good older brother.
Throughout his life, the poet worked as a poet, novelist, and social activist. Poet Song Hyeon was also a bestselling author at a time when books were selling a lot. Poet Hyun Song once served as the main editor of Break News, the publisher of which I am a publisher.
The writer and poet Song Hyun shared a long, very long friendship of 44 years. I mentioned the author's name in a poem I wrote on July 1, 2020, entitled "Eat it." It was a sign of closeness left in poetry. Below is the full text of this poem.

Poet Song Hyeon, who watched from a relatively close perspective, wants to express himself as “a person who has always lived with anger.” I don't know what the subject of that anger is. What if we summarized it as “on the side of justice”? In any case, his life was full of anger, and anger was always burning. It appears both in his poetry and in his writings.
Poet Hyun Song once served as the main editor of Break News, the publisher of which I am a publisher.
Poet Song Hyeon had close acquaintances with Gong Byeong-woo (inventor of the Hangul typewriter), Ham Seok-heon (publisher of The Sound of Seed), and Han Chang-gi (publisher of Deep Rooted Tree).
She also wrote the biography of Dr. Byeong-Woo Gong, “I Lived My Way”. Regarding Dr. Byeong-Woo Gong, in an article titled “The spirit of Byeong-Woo Gong, a pioneer in the mechanization of Hangul, 10 achievements” dated March 7, 2015, the Break News commemorated as follows.
“Dr. Gong Byeong-woo is the Korean version of Edison. Dr. Byeong-Woo Gong's inventions are not one or two. He gave me the genealogy of Dr. Gong Byeong-woo's invention while entrusting me with the Gong Byeong-woo typewriter company. The moment I saw it, I couldn't help but doubt my eyes. This is because numerous invention patents were written in various fields. And I have heard the story of Dr. Syngman Rhee from Dr. Gong that a country that disrespects inventors will perish. Including practical Korean typewriter, Korean-English typewriter that can record both Korean and English, Korean-English triple-stage typewriter that can take both Korean and English capital letters, Gong Byeong-woo teletype, Gong Byeong-woo voltaic typewriter, Gong Byeong-woo photo typewriter, Chinese Zhuyin code typewriter, blind braille From a typewriter, a one-handed Korean word processor, to a contact lens, Dr. Gong's list of invention patents is endless and diverse. In 1999, the Korean Intellectual Property Office selected Dr. Gong Byeong-woo among the seven great inventors of Korea.”
Regarding Teacher Ham Seok-heon, who opposed the Park Chung-hee regime, in an article titled “The reason I fast for 4 minutes with a heart of reverence” on February 8, 2019 on Break News, “I first met Mr. Ham Seok-heon in Busan. One day before graduating from high school, it is through an old magazine whose cover is falling off. The moment I saw the teacher in a pictorial for a magazine of unknown title, I felt a strong and mysterious feeling as if I had been struck by fire. After that day, I scoured the used bookstores in Bosu-dong, Busan, looking for the writings the teacher had written and started reading them carefully. I also read the teacher's immortal masterpiece, 'Korean History in its Meaning' line by line, holding my breath. I knew the difference between dead history, which is a chronological list of historical records, and true history, which digs out the meaning and providence of history, what is historical consciousness, why is history important to humans, and how important it is to have a correct historical consciousness I found the map. It was then that I first experienced the intellectual thrill of reading.”
In an article under the heading “The Great Principles of Healthy Writing, a Tree with Deep Roots, President’s Ceremony,” published in Break News on October 2, 2016, the publisher of “Deep-rooted Tree (Monthly)” was commemorated as follows.
“Unfortunately, no one on this land has paid attention to the great principles of healthy writing in its prime. But during that time, I have written so many books that I have written 70 books. However, after learning the great principles of writing, I have never written anything like falling leaves, and I have always been writing “I did” type writing.
So, I think that one great principle of healthy writing is greater and more valuable than the many achievements of one changi who are listed by many people put together! So, in the future, we will have to put this principle in the Korean textbooks of elementary schools and universities to correct the wrong writing education so far.”
Poet Song Hyeon, who has been writing for the rest of his life, also had a critical view on COVID-19.
The last poem of his life is soaked with the tears of his poet. Poet Song Hyun posted a new poem titled “My Mask That Made My Daughter Cry” on her Facebook page on February 4th. This poem became the last poem written by Song Hyeon in her life. Below is the full text of this poem.

“This guy’s fraud prevention makes my daughter cry and I cry too!” <2022. 2. 4. Poet Song Hyeon’s New Life Poetry>
In this poem, the poem he wrote at the end of his life, ‘anger’ is also expressed. He always lived as if thirsting for justice, as if angry. The tears that came out in the last poem were the tears I shed between my daughter and I. The tears that poet Song Hyeon shed were probably tears for the human world and for everyone.
The late poet Song-hyeon admired Osho Rajnish and studied Rajnish all his life. Poet Song Hyeon, why did he live with anger all his life? He seems to stem from the belief that only rage can change the world. In the yard where we are going to another world, I want to present the words of Rajnish, “Love is happy when you can give it something.” The late poet Song-hyeon must have lived with anger because he loved the world.
Poet Song Hyeon, who suddenly left this world, in the last poem he left behind, “This earth is heaven for me. I agree with the saying, “Even if I die today, I have no spare time.” In 75 years, he lived a very good life and passed away. In a poem referring to the author's name, he said, "When the novel 'Teachers Revolution' is a hit/from that time/I/I will buy a car/I/I/I will buy food/I/I/I will also buy alcohol." age?
