대구대학교 재학생으로 구성된 교육봉사단이 온라인을 활용한 필리핀 교육봉사활동 프로그램을 운영한다고 밝혔다.
지난 7일부터 오는 22일까지 진행되는 이번 교육봉사 프로그램은 지난해부터 교육부 국립국제교육원의 지원을 받아 대구대를 포함한 5개 대학이 참여하는 예비교원 해외 단기교육봉사단 파견 사업의 일환으로 중남미, 동남아시아 및 아프리카 등 기존에 현지에서 진행했던 봉사활동을 온라인으로 전환하여 운영한다.

대구대 봉사단은 필리핀 안티케 지역 2개 초등학교를 대상으로 온라인 교육봉사활동 프로그램을 마련했다고 밝혔다.
이를 위해 봉사단은 지난 1월 말 온라인 수업에 필요한 물품을 필리핀 현지로 미리 발송했으며 온라인을 통해 다양한 과학 체험활동과 한국문화에 대한 수업을 진행한다.
평소 휠체어를 타고 있기에 직접 해외로 나가는 봉사활동에 참가할 수 없어 안타까웠다는 안종민 학생(특수교육과)은 “영어로 수업을 하는 게 쉽지 않지만 랜선 너머 필리핀 아이들이 준비한 체험활동을 즐기는 모습을 보니 신기하면서도 고생한 보람을 느끼게 된다.”고 소감을 말했다.
봉사단을 이끄는 차정호 화학교육과 교수는 “지난 10년간 꾸준하게 이어왔던 필리핀 교육봉사활동이 코로나로 인해 중단될 상황이었는데, 현지 대학과 여러 차례 논의한 끝에 활동 재료를 미리 보내고 온라인으로 수업하는 방식을 마련했다”면서 “지난 2년간 비대면 수업을 통해 쌓은 노하우를 수업 중에 발생하는 다양한 상황에 대처하면서 수업 효과를 극대화하고 있다”고 밝혔다.
