경북대학교(총장 홍원화)는 대학?지자체?지역기관 등과 함께 ‘2022년 지자체-대학 협력기반 지역혁신사업(이하 RIS 사업) 유치를 위한 지역협업위원회 협약을 체결한다고 밝혔다.
18일 경북대 중앙회의실에서 체결된 이번 협약에는 경북대를 중심으로 영남대, 대구·경북교육청, 상공회의소, 대구?경북지방중소벤처기업청, 테크노파크, 창조경제혁신센터, 지역기업 등 15개 기관이 참여했다.

이번 협약은 지역대학과 지자체, 지역혁신기관, 지역기업들이 한자리에 모여 2022년 RIS 사업의 본격적인 추진을 선언하고, 성공적인 사업 준비와 지역혁신을 위해 상호 협력한다는 내용을 담고 있다.
RIS 사업은 교육부가 지자체와 대학 등 지역의 다양한 지역혁신 주체들이 ‘지역혁신 플랫폼’을 구축해 지역혁신을 추진하도록 지원하는 사업이다. 지자체, 대학 및 다양한 혁신기관들이 플랫폼을 구축해 지역의 중장기 발전목표와 부합하는 핵심 분야를 선정하는 한편, 지역 내 대학들은 핵심분야와 연계한 교육체계 개편 및 지역혁신기관과 협업해 과제를 수행하게 된다.
사업 유치를 위해 그동안 경북대를 포함한 지자체, 중심대학, 사업추진기획단 등은 총괄협력위원회를 구성해 이를 중심으로 사업방향을 설정하고 지역산업 수요분석, 핵심 분야 선정, 대학교육혁신방안 마련, 핵심 분야별 세부과제 도출 등 사업 유치 준비에 총력을 기울이고 있다.
홍원화 경북대 총장은 “지자체-대학 협력기반 지역혁신사업이 학령인구 감소와 지역인재의 수도권 유출로 인한 지역의 위기를 극복함은 물론 지역사회의 혁신적 발전의 계기가 될 것이다.”라며, “핵심 분야 혁신인재를 양성해 청년의 지역 정착을 유도하고 양질의 일자리 창출로 지역의 경쟁력을 강화하는 시작점이 되기를 기대한다.”라고 밝혔다.
