[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 창원시는 22일 오후 2시 접견실에서 후안 카를로스 카이사 로세로 대사와 만나 올해 양국 수교 60주년을 축하하며 전반적인 국제협력 방안을 논의하는 시간을 가졌다.
시는 이날 중남미 진출의 교두보로써 전략적 가치가 큰 콜롬비아와의 상호 우호 교류방안에 대해 논의했으며, 창원대 산학협력단이 추진하는 콜롬비아 조선업 ODA사업과 관련해 창원시-창원대-콜롬비아 3자 간 협력방안을 모색하는 시간을 가졌다.
후안 카를로스 카이사 로세로 대사는 허 시장의 환대에 감사를 전한 뒤 양측의 우호협력을 위해 대사관이 앞장서겠다고 말했다. 더불어 원자재가 풍부하고 인구 5천만명의 중견국인 콜롬비아는 한국과의 경제협력을 이어나가고 싶다는 뜻을 밝혔다.
창원대학교는 한국국제협력단(KOICA) 주관 ‘콜롬비아 조선업 활성화 기반구축 PMC 용역 사업’에 선정되어 3년간 총 45억원의 예산으로 콜롬비아 조선업 기술 컨설팅 시행 사업과 콜롬비아 고위 및 실무공무원 초청 연수 등 한국의 우수한 조선기술 역량들을 전수할 예정이다.
허성무 시장은 “콜롬비아는 중남미 유일의 6·25 참전국”이며 “중남미 33개국중 우리나라와 가장 긴밀한 우호관계를 구축한 나라”라고 밝혔다. 더불어 “양국수교 60주년을 맞이하여 시 차원에서의 공공외교·도시외교 역할을 적극적으로 펼쳐나가며, 앞으로 창원과 다양한 분야에서 콜롬비아와의 관계가 돈독해질 수 있도록 협조해 주시길 바란다”고 요청했다.
