브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 안철수 대통령직 인수위원장은 30일 "저는 인수위원장에서 다음 정부 청사진, 좋은 그림, 방향을 그려 드린 다음에 직접 내각에 참여하지는 않는 것이 오히려 (윤석열 대통령 당선인의) 부담을 덜어 드리는 것"이라며 윤석열 정부 내각에 참여하지 않겠다고 발표했다.
안철수 위원장은 이날 오전 10시 서울 통의동 인수위 기자회견장에서 기자회견을 열고 "제 개인적으로는 당선인께 본인의 뜻을 펼칠 수 있는 공간을 열어 드리는 것이 더 좋지 않을까 생각했다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
안 위원장은 "사실 선거를 한번 치른다는 게 정말 초인적일 일정과 정신력 필요하다"면서 "지난 1년간, 길게는 10년간 재충전의 시간이 별로 없었다. 최근만 해도 서울시장 보궐선거, 대선까지 두 번 치르다 보니까 제가 정말 더 집중해서 국민에게 봉사하려면 어느 정도 재충전 시간이 필요하다"고 설명했다.
이어 그는 "그 이후에는 당의 지지기반을 넓히는 일들, 정권이 안정될 수 있는 그런 일들에 제가 공헌하는 바가 많다고 본다. 그런 일을 하고자 생각한다"고 했다.
그는 또 '당권 도전이나 경기지사 출마할 생각이 있느냐'는 기자들의 질문에도 "6월 지방선거에 출마할 생각은 없다", "이준석 국민의힘 대표의 임기가 내년까지니까 지금 당장 (당권 도전) 생각은 하고 있지 않다", "이준석 대표 임기 끝나는 1년 뒤면 한참 뒤다. 그동안 여러 일 생길 것 아닌가. 그 부근에 가서 판단할 생각"이라고 답했다.
