[브레이크뉴스=이성용기자] 창원특례시는 6일 오전 투자협약 기업인 로만시스(주)가 성산구 대원동 국가산업단지 내 창원공장 준공식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이날 준공식에는 로만시스(주) 장정식 회장, 허성무 창원시장, 하종목 경상남도 기획조정실장, 이용배 현대로템 대표, 로만시스(주) 임봉채 대표이사, 협력업체 관계자 등이 참석했다.
국가 기간산업인 철도차량의 주요부품 제조기업인 로만시스는 2021년 1월 창원특례시·경남도와 투자금액 1049억원 신규고용 702명의 대규모 투자협약을 체결하고 철도차량 생산 공장 신설 투자를 진행해왔다.
로만시스는 2012년 ‘김앤장메탈’ 비철금속 제조사업으로 출발해 2018년 사업 다각화의 일환으로 철도차량사업 분야로 영역을 확장하면서 사명을 변경했다.
철도차량 완성차 제작의 후발 주자로 진입했지만 생산 기술력 확보 및 현대로템과 파트너십을 바탕으로 한 기술지원으로 2018년부터 방글라데시 수출용 기관차, 폴란드 트램, 호주 NIF 전동차 의장 완성 및 조립, 서울시 9호선 전동차 수주로 비약적인 성장을 이룬 기업이다.
