브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 원희룡 국토교통부 장관 후보자가 4일 HDC현대산업개발이 광주 화정아이파크를 모두 철거하고 재시공하겠다고 발표한데 대해 "안전문화를 개선하는 계기가 되기 바란다"고 밝혔다.
원희룡 후보자는 이날 자신의 페이스북을 통해 "현대산업개발의 '광주 화정동 아이파크 전면철거 재시공'이라는 고뇌에 찬 결단이 우리나라의 안전문화를 획기적으로 높이는 계기가 되길 바란다"고 말했다.
앞서 정몽규 HDC그룹 회장은 이날 기자회견을 갖고 "입주 예정자들의 요구대로 8개동 모두를 철거하고 새로운 아이파크를 짓겠다"고 발표했다.
정몽규 회장은 "우려를 해소할 수 있는 방법은 완전히 철거하고 새로 짓는 것 밖에 없다는 생각이 든다"며 "800여명 계약자와의 합의가 무한정 지연될 가능성도 있고, 그러면 회사에 불확실성도 커지기 때문에 가장 힘든 결정을 했다. 그것이 가장 빨리 고객들의 신뢰를 회복하는 길"이라고 말했다.
현산측 발표에 따르면 약 2000억원 정도의 추가 비용이 들 것으로 추산하고 있으며 앞으로 70개월 이상 소요될 것으로 내다봤다.
한편, 원희룡 후보자는 지난달 29일 붕괴사고 현장을 찾기도 했다. 원 후보자는 사고현장에서 "이런 일이 다시 일어나면 기업은 망해야 하고 공무원들은 감옥에 가야한다"며 "시민들이나 지역사회에 피해를 끼치는 기업, 공무원은 발붙일 수 없도록 해야 한다"고 말하기도 했다.
