브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 더불어민주당 지도부는 2일 6·1 지방선거 참패 책임을 지고 총사퇴를 결정했다.
윤호중 공동비상대책위원장은 이날 국회에서 발표한 입장문을 통해 "민주당 비대위 일동은 이번 지방선거 결과에 책임을 지고 전원 사퇴하기로 했다"며 "이번 선거 패배에 대해 지지해주신 국민 여러분과 당원 여러분께 먼저 사죄드린다"고 밝혔다.
이로써 지난 3월 13일 대선 패배 직후 출범한 윤호중-박지현 투톱 비대위는 81일만에 막을 내리게 됐다.
당초 현재의 비대위는 오는 8월말 예정된 전당대회 전까지 체제를 유지하다 새 지도부 선출과 함께 당권을 넘겨주려 했으나, 지방선거에서 참패함에 따라 조기 사퇴하게 됐다.
이에 따라 박홍근 원내대표가 비대위원장 직무대행을 맡았고, 향후 의원총회와 당무위원회, 중앙위원회 등 절차를 밟아 새 비상기구를 출범시킬 계획이다.

한편 당 내에서는 이번 참패에 대한 책임론이 잇따르고 있다.
특히 인천 계양을 보궐선거에서 당선된 이재명 의원의 차기 당 대표 출마설이 벌써부터 흘러나오자, 이를 겨냥한 뼈 있는 말들이 나왔다.
이낙연 전 민주당 대표는 이날 "대통령 선거를 지고도 아무 일도 없었던 것처럼 지방선거를 치르다 또 패배했다"면서 "패배의 누적과 그에 대한 이상한 대처는 민주당의 질환을 심화시켰다. 국민은 민주당에게 광역단체장 5대 12보다 더 무서운 질책을 주셨다"고 지적했다.
