브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 쿠팡은 지난 달 28일부터 31일까지 나흘에 걸쳐 경남 창원시 진해구 취약계층에 2리터 생수 11만6000여 개를 ‘로켓배송’했다고 2일 밝혔다.
이번 생수 배송은 창원시가 상수도 유충 발생 이슈로 인해 기초생활수급자·차상위계층·어린이집·유치원 등 1만6000여 명에게 1명당 생수 1박스(2리터짜리 6묶음)를 지원하기로 한데 따른 것이다.
쿠팡은 창원시로부터 생수 구매 및 배송 요청을 받은 즉시 긴급 물량 확보에 나섰다. 생수 물량을 확보하는 대로 순차적으로 창원시 진해구 웅동2동에 3600박스를 비롯해 충무동과 풍호동 등 총 25개동에 위치한 어린이집과 유치원, 취약계층 가구들에 배송을 진행했다.
이번에 쿠팡이 긴급 배송한 생수는 총 1만9362박스(무게로 약 23만 리터/230톤)에 달하며, 총 5700여 가구가 생수 배송을 지원 받았다.
쿠팡 관계자는 “쿠팡만의 차별화된 풀필먼트 역량이 있었기에 23만 리터가 넘는 생수를 구매부터 배송완료까지 수일 내 원스톱으로 마칠 수 있었다”며 “어려움에 처한 지역 주민들에게 실질적인 도움을 제공하게 돼 보람과 자부심을 느낀다”고 전했다.
한편, 지난 7월 초 경남 창원시 석동정수장에서 유충이 발생, 창원시는 정상 수질을 확보한 이후에도 시민 불안해소를 위해 진해구 일대 영유아 시설과 취약계층에 생수를 지원했다.
