[브레이크뉴스=정철규기자] 진주시는 진주성 내 야외공연장에서 시민 800여명이 참석한 가운데 ‘제16회 논개가락지날 행사’가 성황리에 개최됐다고 9일 밝혔다.
이날 행사는 논개가락지날 운영위원회 주관으로 매년 8월 8일에 진주성 2차 전투에서 왜장을 안고 순국한 논개의 의로운 정신을 기리기 위해 진주지역 문화인들이 개최하는 행사다.
행사는 식전행사로 서예 퍼포먼스, 본행사로 위원장 인사말, 내빈 축사, 명창과 테너 공연, 올해의 인물 증서 및 가락지 수여, 초대가수 축하 공연 순으로 진행됐다.
조규일 진주시장은 “충절과 의로 상징되는 논개가락지의 의미를 담은 논개가락지날이 많은 사람에게 알려져 충절의 고장 진주의 위상을 드높이고, 진주정신을 계승하는 계기가 되었으면 한다”고 말했다.
한편 논개가락지날은 논개가 왜장을 안고 남강에 뛰어들 때 낀 10개의 가락지를 연상시키는 8월 8일로 정했으며, 오는 2005년부터 매년 개최 했지만 코로나19 확산으로 2년간 중단, 올해 3년 만에 다시 개최됐다.
