브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 언론단체들이 윤석열 대통령 미국 방문 중 불거진 비속어 발언 논란과 관련, 언론에 책임 전가하는 것은 손바닥으로 하늘 가리기라며 윤 대통령의 사과를 촉구했다.
먼저 윤 대통령의 해외순방을 함께한 대통령실 출입 영상기자단은 26일 입장문을 통해 "문제가 되는 대통령의 비속어 발언을 영상취재하는 과정에서 어떠한 왜곡, 짜깁기도 없었다"면서 "보도 이후 해당 영상에 문제가 있다는 식의 대통령실 반응에 대해 유감을 표한다"고 밝혔다.
영상기자단은 문제 발언은 되려 대통령실 때문에 알게 됐다고 강조했다. 이들은 "당시 현장이 시끄러웠기 때문에 취재 영상기자들도 문제의 발언이 있던 것을 처음엔 몰랐다"며 "그러나 오히려 (대통령실) 대외협력실에서 해당 영상을 확인해보자고 했기에 내용을 인지할 수 있었다. 영상을 확인한 대외협력실에서 '이 영상이 보도되지 않게끔 어떻게 해줄 수 없느냐'고 요청했다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "그러나 이를 받아들이지 않았다. 이 발언을 보도할지 말지는 각 언론사가 판단하기로 했다"고 덧붙였다.
또한 보도되기 전 더불어민주당 등에서 이미 영상을 입수한데 대해선 "대통령실 출입 영상기자단에서는 어떤 영상도 외부로 유출하지 않았다"고 주장했다.
전국언론노조와 한국기자협회도 이날 성명을 내고 윤석열 대통령의 사과를 촉구했다.
먼저 언론노조는 '윤 대통령의 사과가 먼저다'라는 제목 성명을 통해 "어떤 사람을 욕하여 이르는 말인 'XX'가 한국 대통령 입에서 나왔는데 왜 사과하지 않는가. 그 'XX들'이 미국 국(의)회를 일컬었든 한국 더불어민주당을 가리켰든 욕한 걸 인정하고 용서를 빌어야 옳다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "국익을 운운하며 초점을 흐린 국민의힘 장단에 맞춘 것일 뿐이라면 매우 곤란하다"며 "사실과 다른 보도로써 동맹을 훼손한다는 것은 국민을 굉장히 위험에 빠뜨리는 일이라는 말이 자신에게 납득될 만한 소리인지 곰곰이 짚어 보길 바란다"고 꼬집었다.
그러면서 "욕설은 두말할 것 없고, 진실하고 솔직하게 사과부터 하는 게 한국 대통령과 나라 위상을 더 낮은 곳으로 떨어뜨리지 않을 길"이라고 했다.
한국기자협회도 성명에서 "대통령의 해외 순방 후 첫 출근길에서 비속어 논란에 대해 '사실과 다른 보도로 동맹이 퇴색되는 것은 위험에 빠뜨리는 일'이라며 잘못을 언론 탓으로 몰아가고 있다"면서 "그동안 정부와 여당을 감시하며 의혹을 파헤쳐 오고 있는 눈엣가지와 같은 언론을 희생양으로 삼아 위기를 모면하려는 꼼수를 쓰려는 것"이라고 비판해싿.
이어 "막말 논란으로 궁지에 몰린 정부와 여당이 지금 해야 할 것은 궁여지책으로 언론에 책임을 전가하는 것이 아니라 의혹 논란으로 외교 위기를 자초한 대통령의 사과와 내부적으로 진실을 밝히려는 노력이 먼저"라고 강조했다.

Media groups urged President Yoon to apologize, saying, "Putting blame on the media is covering the sky with your palm," regarding the controversy over slang remarks during President Yoon Suk Yeol's visit to the U.S.
"There was no distortion or plotting in the process of video recording the president's slang remarks," the presidential office's video reporters said in a statement on the 26th. "We regret the president's response to the video after the report."
The video reporters stressed that they learned about the remarks because of the president's office. They said, "Because the scene was noisy at the time, even the reporters didn't know there was a problem at first," adding, "But I was able to recognize the contents because the (president's office) asked me to check the video." The Foreign Cooperation Office, which confirmed the video, asked, "What can you do to prevent this video from being reported?"
"But I didn't accept it. Each media company has decided whether to report the remarks or not, he added.
He also claimed that the video had already been obtained from the Democratic Party of Korea before it was reported, "The video reporters entering the president's office did not leak any video to the outside."
The Korean Press Union and the Korean Journalists Association also issued a statement urging President Yoon Suk Yeol to apologize.
First of all, the media union said in a statement titled "President Yoon's apology comes first," "Why don't you apologize when the word 'XX', which is a curse to someone, came from the mouth of the Korean president?" Whether the "XXs" referred to the U.S. National Assembly or pointed to the Democratic Party of Korea, it is right to admit that they cursed and ask for forgiveness, he said.
"It's very difficult if it's just focused on the rhythm of the people's power, referring to national interests," he said. "I hope you think carefully about whether it's convincing to say that damaging the alliance with reports that are different from the truth."
He said, "Of course, swearing, apologizing sincerely and honestly is the way not to lower the status of the Korean president and the country."
In a statement, the Korea Journalists Association also criticized the controversy over slang on the first day of the president's overseas trip, saying, "It is dangerous for the alliance to fade due to facts and other reports," adding, "It is trying to avoid a crisis by scapegoating the government and the ruling party."
"What the government and the ruling party, which have been cornered by the controversy over reckless remarks, should not shift the blame to the media as a desperate measure, but the president's apology for causing the diplomatic crisis and efforts to reveal the truth internally," he stressed.
