파주시는 경기도에서 주최하는 ‘팸투어’(홍보 목적 답사) 참가자가 26일 파주시를 방문해 관광자원을 체험했다고 밝혔다.
이번 팸투어는 포스트 코로나19 시대 국제관광시장 회복에 따라 우수 관광자원을 홍보하기 위해 마련됐다.
외국인을 주요 고객으로 하는 국내 여행사가 초청돼 중국, 일본 및 동남아 주요 국가 전담 국내 여행사 관계자 15명이 참가했다.

이들은 DMZ(비무장지대) 평화관광의 선두지역인 임진각을 방문해 임진각 평화누리 캠핑장을 둘러보고, 민간인 통제구역을 오가는 세계 유일 임진각 평화곤돌라를 탑승했다.
이어 캠프그리브스의 볼링장을 전시관으로 리모델링한 ‘갤러리 그리브스’에서 ‘두개의 시간’ 전시물을 관람했다.

팸투어 일정 중 격려 방문한 김경일 파주시장은 “파주시는 한반도 생태평화 종합관광센터를 지난 8월에 개관해 DMZ 지역의 역사와 생태적 가치를 즐기며 체험하는 장을 마련했다”며, “DMZ 관광의 중심도시인 파주가 가진 관광자원으로서의 매력을 외국인 관광객에게 지속적으로 홍보해주시길 바란다”고 말했다.
파주시에서는 외국인이 유입되는 서울시 연계 관광프로그램인 K-트래블버스를 올해 8월부터 운영하고, 통일동산 관광특구 음식점에 다국어 메뉴판을 제작해 외국인 관광객의 불편을 개선했다.
또한 외국어 관광해설사 위촉.외국어 가이드북 제작을 계획하는 등 외국인 관광객 유치를 위해 노력을 기울여왔다.[파주=박정호기자]
