[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 4일 (사)자연보호연맹 진주시협의회와 자연보호헌장 선포 제44주년 기념일을 맞아 진주시청에서 기념식을 개최했다.
자연보호헌장 선포 기념식은 지난 1978년 최초로 자연보호헌장이 선포됐던 10월 5일을 기념, 환경윤리의 올바른 가치관 인식과 시민의 자연보호 참여를 활성화하기 위해 매년 개최되고 있다.
이번 기념식은 자연보호헌장 낭독과 1회용품 줄이기, 에너지 절약 등 생활 속 실천을 다짐하고 자연보호 및 환경보전활동 공로자 표창패 전달 순로 진행됐다.
조규일 시장은 “자연환경의 소중함을 다시 한번 되새기고 이를 통해서 자연보호연맹의 역할을 새롭게 하는 뜻깊은 자리가 되기를 바란다”며 “시는 인간과 환경이 공존하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
