[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 농촌진흥청에서 공모하는 농경문화 소득화모델 구축 공모사업에 함안군이 선정돼 2023년부터 2년간 사업비 4억 2,000만 원을 확보했다.
농경문화 소득화모델 구축 공모사업은 농경문화 자원을 보유하고 있는 마을 중 자원의 효율적 활용 및 보전을 통해 공동체를 활성화하고 소득향상과 지역브랜드 가치를 높이기 위해 추진하는 사업이다.
함안군은 여항면 주서리 대산, 대촌마을(주주골)의 다랑논(15.8ha) 농경문화를 활용한 체험과 관광 융복합 마을 조성모델이 높은 평가를 받아 이번 공모사업에 선정됐다.
여항면 주서리 일원 ‘주주골’은 오래 전부터 다랑논 형태를 유지하며 벼와 밭농사를 지어왔으나, 여항산, 봉성저수지 등 맑고 깨끗한 천혜 자연환경으로 인해 꾸준히 전원 주택지로 개발되면서 그 면적이 확연히 줄어들고 있다.
남해의 다랭이 마을과는 또 다른 아름다움을 간직하고 있어 앞으로 함안군의 농촌자원으로 보존가치가 높다.
현재 이 지역에는 친환경으로 벼농사를 짓고 있으며, 일부 토종벼를 경작하고 있을 뿐만 아니라 주변 농경지에 토종콩 등 다양한 작물을 재배하고 있어 토종 농산물과 이를 활용한 가공식품 개발 등으로 소득화활 계획이다.
또한, 다랑논 공유 프로젝트, 다랑논 지형을 활용한 달집행사, 함안농요와 함께하는 농사짓기, 별빛따라 다랑논길 걷기, 포토존 조성등 다양하고 새로운 관광자원 발굴해 주주골 다랑논을 홍보할 계획이다.
군은 내년에는 농경문화 자원 발굴과 함께 주민 역량 강화, 다랑논 스토리텔링 등 다랑논 가치를 적극 발굴하고, 2024년부터 본격적인 상품개발, 포토존 조성, 브랜드 개발, 농경문화 전시·판매를 조성 운영할 계획이다.
군 관계자는 “이번 사업을 통해 여항면 주주골 다랑논의 가치를 널리 알리고, 다양한 체험관광 프로그램 운영 및 지역 농산특산물 판매로 농촌관광 활성화 등 새로운 소득을 창출할 수 있는 지속가능한 마을 공동체로 육성해 나갈 계획”이라고 전했다.
