[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 18일 국토교통부가 주최한 ‘2022년 대한민국 도시대상’에서 전국 229개 지자체 중 종합 1위를 달성해 ‘대통령상’을 수상했다.
진주시는 지난 2020년 전국 중소도시 종합 3위로 장관상에 이어 지난 2021년에는 전국 중소도시 종합 1위로 국무총리상, 올해는 전국 대도시·중소도시 통합해 종합 1위를 달성해 대통령상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다.
도시대상은 각 분야별 전문가들로 구성된 평가위원회에서 4개 부문 도시사회·도시경제·도시환경·지원체계, 11개 항목을 종합적으로 평가해 우수 지자체를 선정한다.
진주시는 도시대상 평가에서 자연환경을 활용한 생활권 공원 조성과 국가·지방 정원 추진을 위한 노력, 우수한 야간경관 정책사업 추진, 다양한 문화사업 추진 등에서 높은 평가를 받은 것으로 분석했다.
조규일 진주시장은 “3년 연속 수상과 올해 대통령상 수상은 시정목표를 위해 시민 모두가 최선의 노력을 다한 결과다”며“앞으로도 모두가 살고 싶은 도시, 대한민국 최고의 명품도시로 인정받을 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
