[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 20일 한국항공우주산업(주)에서 진주시, 사천시, 경상국립대학교, KAI와 함께 도심항공교통(UAM, Urban Air Mobility) 산업 육성을 위한 업무협약을 체결했다.
전 세계적으로 급속한 도시화가 진행되고 있는 가운데 교통혼잡, 환경오염, 소음?공해 등의 문제로 안전하고 친환경적인 교통수단인 도심항공교통이 대안으로 거론되고 있고 이에 경남도도 발 빠르게 사업을 선도한다.
도심항공교통산업 시장은 2040년까지 연평균 30%의 성장이 전망되고 있다. 세계 각국에서는 고난이도 임무와 장거리 비행 등을 위한 도심항공교통, 드론, 개인용 비행체(PAV, Personal Air Vehicle) 등 신개념 항공기의 개발에 경쟁적으로 뛰어들고 있다.
국내에서는 2025년에 도심항공교통서비스가 최초로 상용화되고, 2030년에 주요 권역별로 서비스를 확대할 예정이며, 국토부를 중심으로 ‘한국형 도심항공교통(K-UAM) 로드맵’을 발표한 바 있다.
또한, 정부에서는 민관협의체를 발족해 기체 개발?실증사업을 추진 중에 있으며, KAI를 비롯해 현대자동차, 한화시스템, 켄코아에어로스페이스에서 도심항공교통과 관련된 기술개발에 적극 나서고 있다.
