브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 농협은 26일 보도자료를 통해 지난 25일 충남 당진에서 이성희 농협중앙회장, 김정욱 농림축산식품부 축산정책국장, 임승범 충남도청 농림축산국장 등 300여 명의 관계자들이 참석한 가운데, ‘충남 배합사료 공동사업’ 착공식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
아번 사업은 충남지역 3개 지역축협(당진·보령·홍성축협)과 농협사료가 공동출자를 통해 단일 공장을 신축하는 것이다. 금번 착공되는 배합사료 공장은 1일 생산 400톤 규모로 연간 최대 생산량은 30만 톤에 달할 것으로 전망하고 있다.
이는 기존 3곳의 축협 배합사료공장의 생산량 합계(21만여 톤)보다 약 40% 이상 증가한 규모다. 생산 공정은 원료 투입부터 분쇄·배합·가공에 이르기까지 무인화 및 자동화 시스템을 도입한 스마트 팩토리로써 경쟁력 있는 제품생산과 안전하고 친환경적인 공장으로 건설될 예정이다.
2017년 1월 당진축협과 농협사료 양자 간 공동사업 협약을 시작으로, 2020년 10월 당진·보령·홍성 3개 축협과 농협사료가 충남 배합사료 공동사업 MOU를 체결했고, 2021년 5월에는 4개 법인이 본 계약을 체결했다. 2024년 3월 완공을 목표로 당진시 일대에 약 2000평 규모로 건립된다.
농협은 이번 착공식을 계기로 그 동안 지역 축협이 각각 운영해 온 배합사료공장을 단일공장으로 통합·운영함으로써 제조경비, 연구개발비, 마케팅비 등을 절감해 사료 가격 안정화에 이바지하고, 최신의 자동화·현대화 설비를 통해 축산농가에는 고품질의 사료를 저렴한 가격에 공급할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
이성희 농협중앙회장은 기념사를 통해 “충남 배합사료 공동사업이 충남 축산농가들의 축산물 품질개선과 소득증진에 큰 보탬이 될 것”이라며 “대화와 타협, 협동의 정신으로 이뤄낸 역사적인 착공식이 전국 모든 농·축협 가공공장들에 희망의 비전을 제시하는 롤모델이 될 것으로 기대한다”고 말했다.
