[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 창원특례시가 내년 1월부터 기후환경국 신설과 안전대응 강화를 골자로 한 조직 개편에 나선다고 18일 밝혔다.
이번 개편안은 심각해지는 기후·환경 위기에 대응력을 높이고, 최근 이태원 사고와 같이 다양한 재난의 위험에 효과적으로 대비·대응할 수 있는 조직을 구성, 안전관리를 강화하겠다는 시의 의지가 반영된 것으로 보인다.

개편안에 따르면 시는 기후·환경 분야를 전담하는 ‘기후환경국’을 신설한다.
시는 특례시의 특례(1개국 신설)에 따라 기후환경국을 신설해 시대적 과제로 부각된 기후위기와 탄소중립 등에 적극 대응할 수 있도록 했다.
기후환경국은 4개의 과로 구성되며, 기존 환경도시국에서 있던 환경정책과와 자원순환과, 안전교통건설국에 있는 하천과가 기후환경국으로 이관되고, 기후대기과가 신설된다.
기후환경국 인력은 현 정부와 민선 8기의 효율적인 인력 운영 방향에 따라 증원 없이 전원 재배치를 통해 이뤄질 계획이다.
기존 환경도시국은 도시정책국으로 명칭이 변경되며 도시 분야에 역량을 집중한다.

안전 대응 강화를 위해 안전총괄과와 재난대응과를 제1부시장 직속으로 전진 배치한다.
