[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 1일 대한민국 산림환경대상 운영위원회가 주관하는 ‘제1회 경남 산림환경대상’에서 자치부문 대상을 수상했다.
경남 산림환경대상은 산림의 환경기능을 향상에 힘쓴 공로자 또는 단체에게 수여하는 상으로, 대한민국 산림환경대상 운영위원회, (사)산림환경포럼이 주최하고 산림분야 최고의 상이다.
진주시는 평소 산림분야에 각별한 관심을 가지고 국가정원 조성을 비롯한 조림 및 숲 가꾸기, 지속적인 산불예방 등 산과 사람이 공존하는 건강한 산림 조성에 적극 노력한 공을 인정받았다.
또 시는 우드랜드와 월아산 자연휴양림, 산림레포츠단지, 도시공원 등을 조성해 산림휴양복지 제공에 괄목할 만한 성과를 거둔 점을 높게 평가받았다.
조규일 진주시장은 “앞으로도 사람과 숲이 상생하는 건강도시를 만들어 전국 제일의 산림복지 수혜도시로 만들어가겠다”고 수상 소감을 말했다.
