국가철도공단이 총 727억원 투입해 교통약자 이동권 확보에 나서기로 했다.
9일 철도공단은 "경인선 구일역 등 18개 역사에 엘리베이터 34대를 설치해 장애인, 노약자 등이 편리하게 역사를 이용할 수 있도록 시설물 개선에 나선다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 엘리베이터가 미설치된 역사와 엘리베이터가 한쪽 방향으로만 설치돼 장거리 우회 동선이 발생되는 역사 등에 엘리베이터를 추가로 설치하는 사업이다.
공단은 이달 12일 설계에 착수해 2024년 완공을 목표로 공사를 시작한다.
또 공사기간 이동권을 적극 확보해 역사 이용에 불편함이 없도록 배려하는 한편, 창의성과 편의성 등을 갖춘 고품격 설계로 기존 역 시설과 승강장과의 합리적인 동선계획을 검토해 엘리베이터를 설치할 계획으로 알려졌다.
