앞서 윤 전 장관은 지난 20일 CBS 라디오 '김현정의 뉴스쇼'에 출연해 "당 대표를 뽑는 것은 국민이 투표하는 사람 후보를 뽑는 게 아니지 않냐"며 "당 대표니까 그건 당원만을 가지고 투표하는 게 원칙적으로 옳은 거 아니냐"고 밝혔다.
정 비대위원장은 윤 전 장관의 발언을 두고 "100만 당원쯤 되면 당심과 민심이 분리될 수가 없는 것이다"며 "그 이야기를 해주셨다"고 말했다. 그러면서 "윤여준 장관이 옳은 말씀을 하시는구나 생각했다"고 덧붙였다.
