우리나라에 '꿀 먹은 벙어리(속에 있는 생각을 나타내지 못하는 사람을 이르는 말)'라는 속담이 있다. 지난 3.9 대통령 선거를 전후해서 우리나라가 꿀 먹은 벙어리(언어 장애인) 사회가 됐다는 느낌이다.
근 1년간 정치자금 문제가 정치 이슈로 뒤덮였다. 이재명 더불어민주당 대통령 후보-당 대표와 관련된 '대선자금 문제'이다. 누군가 속 시원하게 확 불어주는 사람이 나왔으면 좋겠다.
지구상 그 어떤 나라이든, 정치인을 뽑는 선거라면 정치자금이 필요하게 돼 있다. 그 어떤 자동차도 움직이려면 기름 또는 전기가 필요하다. 마차가지로, 정치자금을 쏟아 부어야만이 선거운동원들이 움직인다. 돈이 들어가야 선거광고를 할 수 있는 시대이다.
정치를 하려면 반드시 정치자금이 필요하다. 또 선거를 치르려면 선거자금이 꼭 필요하다. 정치와 선거에는 거대-막대한 정치자금이 있어야만 된다.
우리나라 국회의원 선거-대통령 선거의 경우에도 선거자금이 많은 진영이 이길 확률이 높다. 그간, 박정희-전두환-노태우-김영삼-김대중-노무현-이명박-박근혜-문재인-윤석열 등, 전직-현직 대통령들은 선거자금-정치자금을 잘 요리한 분들이라 해도 과언이 아니다. 자본주의에서 살아남으려면 그 어떤 분야이든지, 자본이 필요하기 때문이다. 지난 대통령 선거에 출마한 국민의힘 윤석열 대통령 후보도 거대 대선자금을 모으고 썼기 때문에 당선권에 들었을 것이다. 어느 정도의 대선자금을 모으고 사용했을까? 미공개 자금 흐름도 있었음직하다. 선거비용의 지출은 당연한 일이었음을 상기한다. 다음 국회의원, 다음 대통령도 선거자금-정치자금을 잘 요리하는 분들이 당선되는 게 미래사실로 추론(推論)된다.
그럼, 한국사회에서 현재로서, 또는 다가오는 가까운 연한 내에, 누가 정치자금을 가장 많이 가지고 있을까? 누가 막대한 정치자금을 움직일 수 있는 인물일까? 과연 누구일까? 이 대목에서 쉽게 추정이 가능한 것은 전직 대통령 세력일 수 있다. 또는 미래권력을 창출하기 위해 은밀하게 준비해온 세력일 수 있다.
한국사회는 이제 전 대통령후보-야당 대표의 정치자금 흐름을 비켜보는 순간에 도달했다. 이와 관련, 검찰이 이재명 더불어민주당 당 대표를 소환, 불법 자금을 조사하려하기 때문이다. 분명한 것은, 불법 자금을 만들고, 그 불법 자금의 흐름을 조종한 이들이 있을 것이다. 또한 그 불법자금을 수수(授受)한 정치인들이 있을 것이다.

우리 속담에서 지적하는 '꿀 먹은 벙어리(언어 장애인)'의 꺼풀을 모두 벗겨내야만 한다. 시중에는 “거액(불법자금)을 뿌린 큰 정치세력으로부터, 거액을 수수했다”는 밀들이 무수하게 나돈다. “여당-야당 의원들에게 무차별 살포됐다”고 한다. 어디까지 믿어야할지 모른다. 이런 말들은 정치 불신을 부추긴다.
이참에 '꿀 먹은 벙어리(언어 장애인)' 세력들을 모두 솎아내야 우리사회가 깨끗해질 수 있다. 어느 지자체 의원은 친위 군사 쿠데타가 일어나 정치권을 다 쓸어버려야 한다고 주장을 했다. 그런 주장이 먹히는 시대는 아니지만, 오죽 답답했으면 이런 주장을 했겠는가? 필자는 그런 말에 동의하지는 않지만, 심정적으로 이해는 한다. 깨끗한 국가를, 인성이 존중되는 국가를 만들어야 한다는 데는 동의한다. moonilsuk@naver.com
