[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] ‘MADE IN 창원’ 수소산업이 새해 아랍에미리트 아부다비에서 극찬을 받으며, 창원 수소산업의 밝은 미래를 예상케 했다.
창원특례시는 윤석열 대통령의 UAE 국빈방문 기간 중인 현지시각 16일 UAE 아부다비 릭소스 마리나호텔에서 열린 ‘한-UAE 비즈니스 포럼’에서 양국 관계 장관들이 임석한 가운데, 홍남표 시장과 팔라 알 아바비(H.E. Falah Al Ahbabi) 아부다비 자치행정교통부 장관 등은 ‘수소모빌리티 보급 상호협력 양해각서(Memorandum of Understanding for joint cooperation in hydrogen mobility)’를 체결하고 앞으로 아부다비의 수소버스 보급 및 충전인프라 구축에 창원특례시를 중심으로 수소 전문 기관·기업이 참여하는 교두보를 마련했다고 밝혔다.

이에 창원과 아부다비 간 협력과 교류방안을 모색해왔으며, 정부의 수소모빌리티, 수소충전소 등 해외진출 유망분야 수출산업화에 연계되는 특성으로 인해 정부로부터 한국과 UAE간 에너지분야의 의미있는 협력방안으로 평가를 받아 UAE순방 경제사절단에 지방자치단체로는 창원특례시가 유일하게 포함되어 윤석열 대통령 UAE 국빈방문 기간 중 열린 ‘한-UAE 비즈니스 포럼’에서 양국의 관계장관 및 기업 대표 등이 지켜보는 가운데 아부다비 자치행정교통부와 ‘수소모빌리티 보급 상호협력 양해각서’를 체결했다.

이에 압둘라 알 마주퀴 ITC 사무총장은 최대한 빠른 시일 내 아부다비의 실무진이 창원의 수소 노하우를 배우겠다며, 장기적으로는 창원과 아부다비가 협력하여 중동지역의 수소버스와 충전소에 대한 표준 모델을 개발하는데 지속적인 협력을 이어가고 싶다고 밝혔다.

창원특례시와 UAE 아부다비는 이번 양해각서 체결을 통해 수소 충전인프라 구축, 수소버스 운영, 상호 방문 촉진 및 전문가 교류 등의 분야에서 협력을 강화해 나가기로 했다. 창원 소재 수소 기업들의 기술 수준과 제조 역량이 국제적으로 인정받는 계기가 되었으며, 향후 이들 기업들의 해외 진출에 크게 기여할 것으로 내다봤다.
