조계종 서의현 전 총무원장 체제 호법부장, 경기도 파주 보광사의 주지를 지냈다. 현재는 법화종 김해 천봉사의 주지로 있다.
이정화 스님은 '대한기도회 합기도 무술협회'의 총재. 무술 누적이 10단(실제 9단+명예 1단)이라고 했다. 합기도 무술계의 고수이신 셈이다.
뿐만 아니라 예술품(그림+도자기 등) 소장가로, 지난 35년 간 예술품을 모아, 현재 2만 여점이나 소장했다고. 예술품 소장가로서 많은 예술품을 소장했다. 박물관 건립을 추진 중이다.
