브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 한동훈 법무부 장관은 최근 곽상도 전 의원 아들이 화천대유로부터 받은 퇴직금 50억원이 뇌물이 아니라는 1심 판결에 대해 "반드시 바로잡아야 한다고 생각한다"고 밝혔다.
한동훈 장관은 15일 오후 국회 법제사법위원회 전체회의에 출석, 조정훈 시대전환 의원이 "곽상도 전 의원 판결에 대해 국민적 공분이 들끓고 있는데 이러한 여론에 공감하느냐"고 묻자 이같이 답했다.
한 장관은 "세상에 공짜가 어딨나. 그 정도 상황이 있었는데 아무런 처벌을 받지 않는다면 누가 그걸 동의하겠나. 저도 동의하지 않는다"면서 "항소심에서 바로잡기 위해 할 수 있는 모든 걸 할 것이라고 말씀드린다"고 말했다.
이어 조정훈 의원이 곽 전 의원이 검사 출신인 점을 언급하며 "검찰이 너무 제 식구 봐주기를 한 것 아니냐. 너무 말랑하게 수사한 것 아니었나 하는 의혹이 든다"고 질문하자, 한동훈 장관은 "그 사건의 영장 청구와 기소는 지난 정부에서 구성된 팀에서 진행됐던 것인데 굉장히 강한 의지를 가지고 진행했던 것으로 안다. 지금부터는 검찰이 어떤 방식으로든 간에 할 수 있는 모든 역량을 투입해서 하려는 입장을 갖고 있는 것으로 알고 있다"고 했다.
그러면서 "보강수사하고 항소심에서 최대한 바로잡을 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
한동훈 장관은 또한 대장동 개발 의혹과 관련한 민간업자들의 로비 의혹 수사가 더디다는 지적에 대해서도 "진상 규명을 위해 김만배씨와 관련한 은닉자금을 찾고 있으며 상당 부분 효과가 나고 있다"며, "은닉자금을 찾는다는 것은 로비자금의 출처나 연결고리를 찾는다는 것 아닌가. 앞으로도 최선을 다하겠다"고 강조했다.
