[브레이크뉴스=이성용 기자] 경남도는 22일 오전 밀양시 상동면 금산리 일원에서 자원봉사 활성화 선포식과 ‘희망나무심기 행사’를 개최했다.
행사에는 박완수 도지사, 예상원, 장병국 도의원, 김주양 농협 경남본부장, 정회숙 도 자원봉사센터장을 비롯해 도 여성리더봉사단, 밀양시자원봉사협의회 등 200여 명의 자원봉사자와 지역 주민이 참여해 함께 구슬땀을 흘렸다.
그동안 코로나19로 대면활동이 줄어들면서 자원봉사 활동 또한 크게 줄어들었다. 전국의 자원봉사자수는 2019년 419만 명에서 2021년 186만 명, 경남의 자원봉사자수는 2019년 28만 명에서 2021년 11만 명으로 각각 절반 이상 감소했다.
경남도는 자원봉사 바람을 새롭게 일으키기 위해 행사를 마련했으며, 참가자들은 자원봉사 선포식과 함께 편백나무 800그루를 심어 희망의 숲을 조성했다. 지난해 대형산불로 피해를 입은 밀양시민들을 위로하기 위해 밀양에서 시작했으며, 희망나무심기 행사는 4월 5일까지 전 시·군에 릴레이 방식으로 이어지게 된다.
