방문단은 조규일 시장을 단장으로 한 국제교류도시 방문단의 첫 일정은 기타미시를 방문해 진주시와 기타미시는 자매도시의 교류와 협력증진을 위한 상호협력협약서(MOU)를 체결해 양 도시 간 교류 확대에 의견을 모았다.
